Dare to get Dirty {the Pandemic Addition}

This first card was done for Lydia's first Dare to get dirty challenge. The holly pieces are a tim holtz Sizzix die, the background behind them was done with oxide inks and the sentiment is from the Simon Says Stamp fa la la set.

This was done for Dina's challenge the bingo jean and b four sentiment are from Art Impressions the happy birthday is from Stampin Up.

This was done for Lori's challenge. the mug is a picket fence studio die, the background is a Simon Says Stamp Pretty Peonies background and the one in the front is from their Stamptember beautiful flowers 2 set. the sentiment is from Impression Obsession.

This was water colored some time ago the Simon Says Stamp pinecone background and I used it for Angie's challenge with the Impression Obsession sentiment.

This was done for Kitties challenge. the background was spray painted with Krylon webbing spray. the sentiment die is from Echo Park. this one is a slimline size in real life.

This was done for Ann's challenge. The dies are from Memory box & Hero Arts, the sentiment is from Mama Elephant's Holiday Messages set.

This was done for Jeanne's first challenge those birds are from the Simon says stamp fingerprint doodles set and the sentiment is from their tiny words birthday set.

This was done for Lori's challenge. the unicorn & sentiment are from Clearly Besotted.
This was done for Julie's challenge using one of the bitty Hero Arts images I colored on the airplane last year at Christmas. this one is really 3"x3" in real life.

This was done as a combination of Polly's challenge and this week's inspiration challenge that Kia hosted. ( and they did not go live on the same days so, I did not post it until both were live) the Embossing folder is from Memory Box.

This was done for Kelly's challenge using a trinity stamps gal and a Hero Arts sentiment.

This was done for Carla's challenge, the sentiment is from Club Scrap and the background is one that I believe that embossing folder is one of my mil's Anna Griffin ones. ( its not in my basket at any rate so, I am not sure where I got it from) (besides the file cabinet ha ha)

This was done for Judy's challenge and I used the design inspired by this week's featured stampers card seen here for placement jump starts. making a few changes of course, the stencil in the background is from My Favorite Things and the birds are from Art Impressions.

This was done for Bev's challenge the elephant is from Katzlekraft and the sentiment is from Dylusions.

This was done for Sandee's challenge. The dies are all from Memory Box and the sentiment is from Paper Artsy sara naumanns set #39.

A closer look at the treeline, hopefully you can see the stickles glitter glue in this shot.

This was done for Lyn's challenge. I had originally thought to do shapes that would look like cat food but, I really didn't have any stamps that looked like that so, I decided to go for a modified cereal look instead. Riley & Co. sentiment.

This was done for Marg's challenge, the top layer on his hat is dyed cork paper. so, it has fun textures in real life. (SSS gnome die)

This was done for Vicki's challenge, the sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Designs.

This was done just messing around for my own challenge of which I ended up with a pile of backgrounds and I chose the most unlikely one of the batch to do the sample with. the pine bough is a SU folder and the sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp.

This was done for Nancy's dare to get dirty challenge. Its been a long time since I have stitched anything and so, I evidently need more practice again haha.  The tag die is from Papertrey ink and the snowflake is part of the plush line from Memory box.

This shows the gift card a little out of the pocket to give you the idea.

This was done for Kim's challenge. the doctors bag is from Impression obsession and both sentiments are from the Simon says stamp tiny words encouragement set.

So, after one week ( well really a little longer as I had the master list of challenges in advance like all the host's do) I have about half of the challenges done and posted. with a few more bits and pieces that need finished on the table. All of the challenges can be found here inside this special forums set aside for Fan Club members. (you can see any of the images in the gallery but, you need to be a member to read the challenges)

Hey, its just been crazy here. the smoke has been unhealthy for a week now there are so many fires burning in CA. This is proof that I do make it up the stairs though. One of the Dare to get Dirty challenges that is under construction. I broke out that container of Paper glaze I got in the mail a few weeks ago now and the color if it has this metallic shine when its wet and dry so that is fun to see. I think I have done at least half of the challenges so far, and I have not gotten to blogging about them yet but, hubs leaves on friday night for Deer hunting season and so, I will have more time to putter around with just me and the dogs home so, I am planning to do some posting this weekend about that. all of the ones I Have done that are live already are in my gallery at SCS if you are curious. there are some things that have been pushing me out of my comfort zone which is always a good thing I think. and of course I have played in the ones that I instantly had an idea as soon as I read the words so far too. It's one of those things where you just wish for a little more free time in the day. We are doing well here and hanging in there.  Hope you all are too. PS when I told you that we would be having Hugs in person soon, I meant from my own family ha ha.  thanks for stopping by.

 This is a do-over kind of a thing. You know Dare to get Dirty starts on the 22nd and I have made a few samples for other challenges besides my own and one of the ones I finished last weekend I was was totally nope, that is not going to fly. so, here we have evidence of a starting over again on that project. This time with different brands of watercolors. I want this to look very faded like with an almost white washed wood effect so, there has been a lot of blotting going on.
Everything else could be expressed as just Ditto. ( same things different day)
Hunting season starts here on the 29th and we get to have in person hugs on the 6th of September so, the mental counting down clocks are going full stream ahead. I hope you are all hanging in there too. Thanks for stopping by.

Inspired by {Garden Fence art}

 I came across some painted wooden fences a while back and thought, how cool is that. ( ours are stained cedar color) and although I would be highly unlikely to do such a thing at home it has had me stopping to admire buildings and things down town that have done murals on them. And I started a pinterest board ( found here ) to gather some of them together. I really love the painted old doors. and the reclaimed/ recycled shots. And then the reality kicked in and right now, I am working on adding to my Christmas cards stash so, I settled on this white washed tree painted scene in this pin here.

I did consider white washing the Kraft colored cardstock with some acrylic paint and using an embossing folder but, I was thinking that I would have too much texture and stamping on that would be really more of a miss in the hit and miss category so, instead I grabbed a weathered wood distress pad and inked up the old SU hardwood background stamp. And then over that I stamped the Tim Holtz tall pines with some Versafine clair shady lane (green) and an Spectrum Aqua chocolate marker. than then I added in some of the winter looking trees from the Stamptember 2017 & great outdoors sets that he has ( they are very similar sets with the scale being a little bit different) I used the black pad for the sentiment ( both lines are from each of the two sets as you can see it changes the font size) and then I added some detailing with a dark grey stabilio pen. The deer is a second generation image in this scene and I decided to add some simply white Nuvo drops with a nod towards the white washing I left off. This card finished out at A2 in real life and YAY for me got another Christmas card done. You can find this challenge here at SCS to play along with us, Thanks for stopping by.

My Actual desk on Wed am. I am one of those people who plays with the scraps when I am putting things away and the other day I had made a sample for the Inspiration challenge which I am hosting that goes live this week and I had wanted a second generation deer on the project so, this deer is the first generation of ink and I seen these Waffle flower dome dies and thought this could be a little scene if you play with them and fun thing I found was the bases that come in this set cut the woodgrain pattern into that piece. ( fun stuff, this is very preliminary and will get inked and such as I go along I am sure) the paper glaze and Impression Obsession sentiments are new ones that are waiting a turn to be played with too.

It's been so hot all summer long we actually had a thunder shower with lightning that hit the power converter box on the pole between my house and my neighbors house. it knocked the power out last Thursday for a little while ( it really only took the power co. 2 hours to get that box switched out and restored) very nice. so, the drive way looked like a little stream and there was fairly good sized hail with the show too.
personally I like to sit on the porch when it rains in the summer ( and its coming straight down not in sideways right) I love how it smells when it is so hot and then all the sudden it rains. but, Izzy was less than impressed. She really wanted back in the house but, she also wanted me to go inside with her.

Part of our drive way, The streets where we work were completely flooded for a couple of days after and then when it was all over they said we got a 1/2" of rain. the drainage systems here are not set up to handle the water loads like they see on the East Coast of the U.S. where they talk about getting their rain in inches and feet.

that mountain in the background, it disappears from the view on days the valley fills with smoke, so the rain was nice, it really knocked a lot of that down.

 Just something fun, I have been finding clumps of frogs in the green house this last week or so, this year has been less frogs than previous years it seems so, its always fun to find them. ( most of them hopped off when I sprayed this tomato with the water hose. That's about it from me, I hope you are all doing well and thanks for stopping by.

Inspired by { Allen Designs}

 This week we are taking a look at Allen Designs where I found this waves vase that had really cool movement and colors and then I started poking around in my new to me stamps basket and pulled out this set to add another one to my done pile for this year.

The perfect bow gnomes is from Stamping Bella and was stamped on some Strathmore watercolor paper (twice) and I die cut the one that became the bottom layer with a Simon Says Stamp stitched square die, the top layer was cut out with scissors and paper pieced back into the design. ( except the balls and string at the ends of the hats) I almost did not use this stamp because, when I first bought it I did not notice that the mouths and smiles are over the tops of the beards. strange I thought and set it aside. the funny thing is I have not seen any other comments about that either so, I guess it does not look that bad. I pulled this foiled printed paper out of a scrap bin to mimic the movement of the waves on the vase and then found some silver ribbon for a little extra shine. This card is 6" square in real life and headed to the booth in November.

This was watercolored with some QoR & Prima watercolors and has some polychromos pencil over the top with a little bit of Stardream & gold gelly roll gel pens over that in places.
You can find this vase here inside their site. And you can find this challenge here at SCS to play along with us. I hope you are all doing well. Thanks for stopping by.

WOYWW # 583 {flat surface filing syndrome}

 Happy desk peeking day,

I kid my husband on a regular basis that he has flat surface filing syndrome and I had to laugh and take this shot mid stride on Tuesday because, every time I am working on something or several somethings it really does look like this, not an inch to spare.
and if I walked over to that table this morning you would not see any of this as it was all put away last night after messing around with a few more ideas. ( none of it has been glued together.)
the tutorial in the front is a print out from SCS last week's thing to make a slimline gatefold card and I have not gotten around to that yet but, it caught my eye.
in other news the wind is blowing the other direction so we have good air quality at the moment & we are all doing well if not weary of the whole covid situation but, hanging in there. Hope you are all doing well too. Thanks for stopping by.

Inspired by {Miss Vogues}

This week Gail is guesting for the Inspiration challenge and she has lead us to the Miss Vogues store online. ( ohmygoshIheartsomanyofthoseshirts)  yeah, so far none have been purchased but, it  was totally fun to poke around in virtually.
Knowing that I need more Christmas cards I had that thought in the back of my mind when I was looking and I kept coming back to the way this lace shirt was displayed on the wood.

And I came up with this, the Emma background is from Simon Says Stamp heat embossed in Stampin' Up! white powder on some recollections "kraft" sheet ( its really more the color and texture of a paper shopping bag then what I think of as "kraft") Tied off some sheer tan ribbon and stamped the Tim Holtz ( its from the Stamptember 2017 set) on a My Favorite Things stitched sentiment banner. tied on with some natural hemp string, that has some foam pop dots under the end to hold it into place. Very simple, I know its not a traditional Christmas card but, I really like how this one turned out. Its A7 in real life.

You can find this shirt here in their store and this challenge here at SCS to play along with us. Hope you are doing well & thanks for stopping by.
