50 years (and two weeks ago...)

The 50 years ago part was on Sept. 12th 1959 Tim's Parents were married, so two weeks ago their kids were able to ( we have no idea how :) ) Pull off a secret anniversary party for them... They finally got the article up on the local papers website if you missed it in the print last Saturday... This was the card i made for them for their anniversary. funny true story on the way to meet Tim's parents for the very first time as a teen Tim was telling me things about his family ( since there was going to be a house full of them at once ) and said something off hand about oh you'll know if my mom is mad she throws cast iron skillets at my dad... and i cant tell you how afraid i was to meet them... I know i should have done something in gold and something with an 50 on it but, I also know his mama adores cute mice and would love this even better. its 5X7 in real life.
Now because the party was a "surprise" what i thought was she is gonna need a boat load of Thank-You notes for after... so this is a little something i put together, its an stationary box from the craft store with the a-2 sized cards standing on their sides you can get 100 of them into one of these boxes. (with envelopes and room for the postage to sit on top)
and this is a very bad photo of them... the gold bazzill paper shines, the neenah label die cut has a very faint copic grey line drawn along the edging of the embossing to help it POP. the S has some gelly glaze roll pen work over the top of the are you ready for this that ink color is not gold... its Ranger butterscotch? ( will have to check something like that ) Stamps are from Just Write Stampers and the monogram and gold layers are up on pop dots... and since this is the first time i am viewing these photos I'm thinking oh too bad you didn't keep one so you could have re-shot the single card better... and in today's mail i received one back thanking me for making them... so maybe tomorrow when its day light i will try it again.

some not so recent stuffs

Now this interestingly enough was 1.50 worth of yardsale loot... ( this is at least a month old i stopped shooting the loot after this one because i had stopped taking the time to post...)
A closer look at what was inside the tin...
Now on another note i know i talk about this a little bit but inside of splitcoaststampers is a "user group" called RAK and one of the sub forums of RAK is "wish rak" this is where i spend most of my scs time at. and a few times of the year these ladies get together and have a weekend of challenges to "use up" images and cardstock samples or what ever we have horse traded with each other and turn it into cards sent off to the troops over seas. so the most recent weekend of challenges were held during Labor Day this year. and I did not get many completed. in fact these two cards below done for the challenges are still sitting here. ( been sick, still sick ) getting better. Hopefully will get my cards for the troops box packed and sent off soon.
This was done for two different challenges. one which was to use a piece from a "featured stamper wishrak members gallery" and the other challenge was to do a Christmas Card that could not be blue, red or green.
so the design of this card was done (over and over and over again) from this card in Lena & Tina Tackers Gallery
So i have changed the colors and the lumpy sentiment section of the card to buttons and ribbons, the rounded corner scraps were nearly impossible to get to look "right" i worked on that layer a long time with scraps over and over to get it "good enough" This reindeer is from Unity stamps and came to me via the PIF threads at splitcoast from Inkstazonme ( Thanks Shelia!) its got a bit of prisma pencils and then some liquid pearls on the antlers. its impossible to see in this photo but along the curves of the antlers on this image there are reindeer names. This is 5X7 in real life.
Now this one was done to an be inspired by something inside a "linens" bedding store. and i did not save the link to the bedding i picked ( i printed it out in black and white) and this basic grey paper had a similar scrolly open feel to it i guess, the linens i found were brown and blue and this was the most workable paper i had so i changed the color sheme. the Image came to me as one of the very first i ever wished for inside wish rak its from the old old su set called Farm Fresh and it came to me from Peebsmama { Thanks Susan!!} I have looked at this set many many times on ebay and until i run out of the stash i have i have not caved and bought this one YET... lol its 5X7 in real life. the vintage scalloped trim is unknown. Cream cardstock was run through an cuttlebug folder (both ends the seam is hiding under the image) ;)
Just for fun, a lot of people know that my husband Tim owns a machine shop, but not many of them know he is also a certified welder himself (among other things) laughed out loud when i came across this teddy in the Elzybells site and had to have it... nearly ruined it but, one thing Tim is not is a critic so, he probably hasn't even noticed the stray ink blot or the belly...
Sentiment and Image are from Elzybells (UK) they are stamped with Memento Tuxedo black on Neenah solar white and colored with copics, then I out smarted myself trying to add a shade lighter to the belly with an prisma pencil ( which usually works however i keep a complete set of every prisma color in the house where i usually color and my spares upstairs on my table my spares container does not have every color in it, its an "get by" type thing at the moment ) so, then i had the bright idea to blend with an PRISMA colorless blender marker over the top of the pencil parts and instead of melting pigments like it would on naked underneath cardstock it BLEACHED IT RIGHT OFF... so then I had to go over it all again with more markers when i dried... ( because, i did this after the card was completely done lol) there is a bit of stardust gellyroll glaze pen along the visor and a bt on the flame too. more to post but, its also nap time somewhere and i have to find the other camera cards... ( switched to new ones the weekend of the party and have some things on the old cards not downloaded yet) got more to share. (hopefully soon)

Apples again

Mystery Apples... These are what grows on the tree that came with this house that we were not even sure we could save it was so badly hacked the branches the first year there was one tiny little thin green branch out of what mostly looks like a dead stump, so after almost 5 years its starting to look like a real tree again and this is what the apples look like... they are a little soft and have a very slight tart tasted but not a strong tart taste like an granny smith too sweet for that. the skins kind of remind me of the ones Ive seen in the stores labeled "Rome" but, i haven't bought those so not sure if these are those or something else entirely...
so this year the tree did about 7 or 8 apples altogether.
Mystery apples
The red delicious tree is still going, most the apples are getting those bumps on the bottoms now and the colors getting redder.
