 what my desk has looked like the last few days, shot on tuesday evening. 

a little while later, I cleared off a spot to start something else. this took me by surprise how goopy this masking fluid is, I am not sure if I have a "bad" or old batch of it or if all of it looks this way. going to be  a tall skinny landscape I think. behind that, well we had a yard sale last weekend and I had set aside some things I didn't play with much to be in the sale, and before it started. ( these boxes were in the barn a couple of years) I rescued some and hauled them back up stairs. yeah, I know you are laughing.

We had to laugh at each other when we walked out of the airport a couple of weeks ago, we have nearly the same shades. (the reason I have not been online much, and this was taken before the bootleg fire started hence the blue skies) Yesterday, that fire had crossed the county line in the east and has moved into Lake county. at this point the home that was my step moms parents has been lost to the fire and the home my Aunt & Uncle live in is safer. ( they did not evacuate, they stayed home and watered things daily, she is a dog breeder and has one dog that is supposed to have a litter this week and one that is in heat) but, the fire crews are digging roads for fire stops and so far that is working. for the size of this fire, if it had swung around to the south west of where it started it would already be in California and where I live would be gone, but the direction its moving right now is in national forest land where there are remote and isolated ranches and farms and homes along the edges of it.

My actual desk on Wed night, this is left over piles from maybe Monday night? the pile of flower stamps are ones that my son's girlfriend is interested in coloring some time so, they are piled up to be stamped for that purpose. The other piles are the left overs from the first card she made, I should have made her grin holding it for a mug shot ha ha.Ooh I have a new phone, the camera is so much cleaner than my old phone. I am really enjoying this but, have not taken that many shots as of yet.

 playing with both of them. And so, hugs are being enjoyed even though he will have over a month of self quarantines after the fact.

I did spend some time cleaning on Sunday and did a featured stamper card and picked up the bulk of the mess that had been piled up these last few weeks. I haven't made anything since. our dog Grace had a golf ball sized lump under her eye and I took her into the vets monday for antibiotic's thinking sinus infection and the Vet was pretty sure it was an abscessed tooth root and so tuesday she had Xrays and two teeth pulled. ( she is pretty perky this morning) so, hopefully things will start to slide back into what is our regular new normal. that empty nest thing. I have not really played with any of the new stuff I flashed at you a while back and am hoping to start doing that soon.

While our son was home he picked up a new (used) truck here and its sitting by the barn waiting on the auto transport company to be making the trip across the country with it. ( this saved thousands of dollars over buying the same truck near where he is stationed) and that is about it for me. Thanks for stopping by. :)

 So the adventures in un-mounting sentiment stamps continues at odd moments. ( while the paint is drying)

 Some new things that I decided I had to have on Prime day arrived in the mail sometime so, I spread them out for your viewing pleasure. and will probably just move them out of my way and continue un-mounting the next time I have time haha.

 That is the very first digital camera I was given as a gift it has a whole 4 mega pixels but, I can hand hold it above the table and shoot shots of stamp index's for the evernote file with it. I kinda laughed when I pulled the camera card out of it to see what was on it, DS was using it last in 2010 and so its like a little time capsule. and the storage on that card is 2 lol... the wipes I am using on the scissors as I cut out the sticky cling foam and that Santa peeking out... that is a sneak peek for the upcoming Dare to get Dirty Challenges coming soon to Splitcoaststampers. its something I did for Sandee's challenge.

 Now this is the first 28 pockets of sentiments ( on the left side) after I laminated the first couple of sheets I decided to round the corners on the rest of them. So, its a slow going but, making progress. one of the things I did was take some of the other cling stamps that were in dvd cases that had laminate sheets and cut those down to fit in the pockets and that is saving some space too.

 So, the work has commenced in the "Library" which might be a really grand name for this nook and Grace has supervised every step of the way. the first wall that is 8' X 8' has floor to ceiling shelves in now. the space with no shelves will be where the window seat hits that side and the back rest.  ( the seat will lift up and be cedar lined storage for like blankets and pillows or something like that)

So, like so... I have been having some computer issues lately. and I also have had twice now when I click on a link in the line up to go to a blog it shows me a blog for a half a second and then switches to a frozen screen that tries to get me to pay money to unlock it... since I have not fallen for the scam I am guessing it is not real, none of the virus catchers that I run in my computers are finding a single thing but, after it happened the second time it made me stop and pause. esp. clicking on things in my work computer.

the kitchen has not changed at all since the last time I flashed you a peek. we are still waiting on the countertops before anything else can be done (this friday will be week 4 which would have been the soonest they could come, we have not heard from them yet)  and our fridge that is 22+ years old did not like being moved to the garage so, it has once a week for the last month or so been unplugged with dry ice in it for 24 hours to recharge and so, we are really getting annoyed with that. ( it's still pretty hot here) and I have tossed more milk and such that I just barely buy anything perishable hoping we can eat it before it dies again.
Supposedly my refrigerator is supposed to reach this town today. ( cross your fingers)

 So, all those stamps that were just willy nilly pulled off the wood blocks sometime last year and set aside because, other projects took priority were moved from the corner to the table. ( and I started stamping them off and re-sorting them.) so, this plastic box contains the last of many boxes of them what were sorted leading up to these tuesday night shots.
I have been more organized about this since these were dealt with. such as you know deliberately looking for stamps to pull that fit categories that are under construction of pockets now. to fill sheets up. which of course makes me feel very impressed with my self on that account. because, I really don't enjoy doing this, but I do like the end result. and our temperatures are still at broiled alive outside so, even with the little window ac on upstairs it is still in the high 80's up there.

 This little pile has some that the original foam did not want to remove from the rubber, so I tried leaving them in the freezer and that did not do anything for me. and I was afraid to nuke them in a microwave so, I ended up scraping at that foam with an exacto knife. Which works but, was really a sticky mess.

 on top of the big shot is a container that has some sorted stamps with indexes stamped on cardstock for the plastic pockets. closer is some dies that were used on a card either and under that is some happy mail from The Cats Pajama's that came on monday and I have not played with them yet but, did remove them from the original packaging and put them into plastic pockets so far.

and this is why the un-mounting thing seems like an uphill battle. that altered bakers rack in the far back top right corner... every one of those trays is filled with wood mounted sentiments. but, I do have to say that so far the pockets that were laminated and moved to the book shelf next to it are saving so much space its really encouraging me to continue with the project.

Our son is home on leave and he had a couple of projects he wanted to do making flags for a gift from wood with brass from ammunition as the stars and so, this was a peek at the temporary "desk" he had going in the back. by the time Wednesday had rolled around the first flag was finished and the second one was almost done. but, blogger had other ideas about letting me post yesterday. I don't have any finished flag shots in google photos yet or I would have flashed you with that. they turned out pretty impressive. I will take one and edit this post. ( if it ever decides to post)

WOYWW #412 {loot & coloring}

 so, a while back I caved on a studio calico order and those stamps arrived in the mail on monday.

 Also on monday came a package from Simon Says stamp...

 So, on monday evening after those stamps were dutifully photographed for your viewing pleasure I did open the shut up and color set and stamp off some of those on scraps and left them to dry. so this was shot tuesday.

around the corner on the other side I have been coloring some ellen hutson mondo peonies with polychromos pencils. I stamped it all with some avery elle pixie ink and the leaf is ( I forgot it's ink name off hand but, I was trying for a no line coloring effect) and so, its hard because, I finally figured out what I think I am doing to sabotage my self and it is I spin the papers when I color. I think it would be easiest to say ok this will be the top on your finished project and so the shadows go here and here. and that's not really how I operate with blooms ( like this where they are viewed from above) I tend to cut them out with scissors and place them on card fronts around the sentiments or other elements. so, the card in the back was the first one of these and after it was attached to the card base I had this whole, the shadows do not make total sense thought about it. oh and the starting to unfold buds are even harder with the no line thing for me, they just look like pink blobs and I may add more definition to the cracks but, the pale pink peonies in my yard are barley pink (only in the centers) the petals fade to white as they open so, I was trying for something more real looking.

also from tuesday ( my desk at work) my son is home on leave so... he stopped by my office to ( use the copy machine lol) I will be driving all day for work today so, it may be late before I start making the rounds. Thanks for stopping by!

a Shutterbug day

Love this mouse the holding the cheese just makes me grin. this version was colored with some Derwent watercolor pencils on Neenah ( which warped the cardstock) and so that panel is up on popdots. 

I thought the colored cheesecloth gave it that "studio drapery effect" kwim? the printed paper is from Kaiser and the base is bazzill with some Heidi Swapp photo corners and unknown brads. the sentiment's from Stampendous. this was either 5 1/2 or 6" square but, it was tossed together quick, shot and given away without any of the details being jotted down. 

our family had a picnic at a local park a week ago and that was the day before my gpa's birthday.this was done quickly for him.

There is a big discussion going on at SplitcoastStampers about people who post links to their blogs to see more information about projects and then post "personal" stuff on it. that just cracks me up that people assume other people have "craft only blogs" I guess I need a tag that say's this blog will contain what ever I feel like putting up on it. Yes, I took a few dozen photos at the park but, they probably will be emailed out to the people. but, I am also going to assume that if you are reading this blog and you have a question about what ever information is not here that you feel like you can click the email me button and ask. if this is your first visit here any photo I put up on my blog if you click it, it will enlarge and you can hit your back button to resume reading.

J's letterman's jacket came in yesterday.

Snapshots from the last week...

Did an Ice run again last tuesday and I didnt have to hurry, we were not out of ice it was a bump up the stock for Halloween in advance so hubs said to me, hey you gonna shoot leaves? and I said maybe... and I spent some time thinking about that tree, ( the one with the cool frame of branches on the other side of the mountains ) so on the way to Medford, you cant see this tree, the angles wrong. and on the way home I had the general idea of which hill it was at the bottom of so found a place to pull off the road and park was gonna walk down the road to the tree... got a million cars slamming on their breaks ( thought the truck was broke down ) ha, so turned around and walked back and shot this weed, and the back lit weeds below in the ditch near the truck and started driving home closer to the tree again...

That tree, no one was behind me and there was no place no shoulder even to pull off the road so stopped on the road and shot this through the windshield. if you look close at it you will see power lines running through the top. ever noticed that all the trees with the most/prettiest color are always on the side of the road with lines?

1st day 10th grade

yep, taller then me now... taller then his dad too. and yep, will still line him up and shoot a first day mug shot even if this is the best one of a half a dozen shots.
