2012 Christmas Cards
Yes the voices tell me they want to make Christmas and Winter still... tried an birthday card yesterday afternoon which turned out butt ugly and will post later this week sometime...
I got this sentiment too late to use on my wish rak exchange package ( the theme this year was sparkle exchange) and anyways, this one is from Impress and its heat embossed with ranger black sparkle powder on some cheap thin white metallic cover sheet from staples. the large white snowflake die cut is from memory box ( same cs) the black is an sizzix diecut. there is some distress stickles on this. the ribbon is from May Arts as is the irridescent cord. the size of this one is 4 X 8 1/2" in real life.
This star santa image came to me in my wish rak Christmas exchange box this year from c-mouse ( Thanks Pansy!) he's colored with copic markers, the edges were inked with some colorbox fluid chalk ink in creamy brown. The Sentiments from Hero Arts stamped in Versafine satin red on a Kraft scrap die cut with an memory box tag die. the brad's unknown, the crochet black is from May Arts, the gingham pp is from pebbles, the black is GKD, the green base is always artichoke and this ones A-6 in real life.
This is an wish rak image that came to me in my Christmas exchange box from c-mouse ( Thanks Pansy!) its colored with copic's there is a bit of stickles glitter glue added to the snow line. There are two layers of pop dots between the image and the lace die cut mat under it because the knot in the ribbon is so thick. ( its a balance thing I guess) this wide wide ribbon is also an gift from stamping in kansas (Thanks Kris!) the snowflake background was sprayed with glimmer mists and then embossed with the snowflakes. this ones 5X7 in real life.
This is an PSX image colored with copic's the lace is vintage, the ribbons from Martha Stewart, the holly embossing folder is sizzix done on the Kraft scrap. the pp is from Memory box. This uses the sketch 363 changed to a square shape. this ones 6" square in real life and the base is Bazzill.
This ones 5 1/2" square in real life, the birds are from PSX and colored with copic's. the lace is vintage, the burgundy shimmer (star dream) was run through an basic grey sizzix folder. the sentiments up on pop dots and both the sentiment and bird panels have some vintage photo distress ink color dusted along the edges.
I know its not a Christmas image per say, but this is what I *think* people with two children wish to see around the holidays (grin) The Whiff of Joy image is colored with prisma pencils, the sentiments from Art Impressions. the twas the night before Christmas pp is from A Muse, the green filigree background is from SU. The crochet doily/flower came to me in an Christmas exchange box from Stamping in Kansas ( Thanks Kris!) the button is vintage with some red twine ( came tied to a etsy purchase) through the holes. the pieces have been inked with creamy brown fluid chalk ink and some vintage photo distress. this ones 6" in real life.
The Impression Obsession santa horses are stamped with versafine vintage sepia on kraft then color dusted with some vintage photo distress. the sentiments from SU. the lace is vintage. the embossed vellum is from K & Co. this is 6" square in real life. This one photographed really wonky the colors of the plaid vellum are burgundy and green in real life, will have to try to re-shoot it later some time. wanted the kraft cs to look like leather, so I think the horses faded into all the color of it and may try it again with a darker brown ink to stamp in.
One of my favorite PSX stamps colored with copics. on one hand coloring with markers is very very fast compared to coloring with pencils... but as I did all of these in a very short amount of time the coloring actually looks flat to me compared to ones with many layers of pigment from pencils on them. the opal stardream was run through an sizzix embossing folder, the silver ribbon is generic. the sentiments from SU, the red swirly pp is from Memory box. This one is also 6" in real life.
Did some really simple ones ( for me ) using up images I colored. this ones A-6 in real life. the lace is wrights hemming, the PSX image was colored with Copic's the embossing folder is one of the tim holtz sizzix ones done on a scrap of DCWV pp. The pearls are from queen cat. the cardbase is bazzill.

a Head start for Next Christmas
I have signed up for the 2012 Christmas card challenge at splitcoast ( basically you decide how many christmas cards you need and make a few of them each month all year long, but you can work in advance which means if you hit a wall and don't feel like doing Christmas in June its not a big deal, so towards that end this one was done using the sketch sc363. The Poinsettia's in a basket are an PSX image. colored with copics, the printed paper is from memory box. the lace is vintage and the green ribbons Martha Stewart. the PTI kraft was run through an sizzix folder. ( don't know its name) did change this sketch from a landscape style to one that would fit into 6" square. It's hard to see but, the sentiment is heat embossed with ranger detail gold and reads Chrismas greetings, this is really bugging me how hard to read it is so may end up doing it again on another color of cardstock and layering it over this diecut. ( not sure yet)
another real quick one, the stocking is from PSX, the sentiment is from ( I dont remember) colored with copics, the scrap dcwv paper was run through an tim holtz embossing folder. this ones A-6 in real life.

More last minute cards
figured I needed some thank-you cards and have started on those. these are all A-2 in real life. with all of them using scraps from recent projects and or all use the same dollar bin Joy swirly sentiment stamp. the snowflake is a hand held punch. the wood snowflake came off of an clothes pin ( some place up north in Or made them and I found them in a craft warehouse in Medford a while back)

Poinsettia Christmas Fairy
Colored this gorgeous sweetpea image sometime last summer when it was just too hot to think about Christmas and set her aside, found this background that leibetty (Thanks LeighAnne!!) sent to me (the green swirls are stamped with ancient page leaf green on wild wasabi cs. I cut trimmed this with some pinking shears intending to sew on it and then I found this red shimmer embossed piece I made a long time ago to so this went together really fast had this lace on the table and it was just too bright for what ever I had gotten it out to try on previously. this is the second and last sheet of the 6" basic grey nordic holiday paper ( that made me buy the pad) the local stores left are not carrying basic grey anymore ( insert a fainting smiley here) have to remember to find an online source I guess. she's colored with copic's and jelly roll pens. dont have a send - ee in mind so left her blank. This is 6" square in real life.

FS254 Stitched Heart Thanks
This is Bonnierose's cards that inspired these of mine.http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...;ppuser=219970
So, I knew I had these hero arts stitched hearts and I knew I need Thank-You cards and thought oh this will work. then when it came time to do it ( card on the right came first) the scale is off because these stamps must be much larger then the unity stitched stamps. and I glued the paper-pieced heart down so, ended up putting the flower up on pop dots instead. The card on the left came about because, the dirty stamps and scraps were on the table and it was easier to just make another then to put it all away. These are A-2 in real life. Congratulations Bonita!

Last Minute tags
Probably hard to see but there are tiny gold metallic letter J's on both of these tags die cut from an Quickutz alphabet and the other diecuts are mostly sizzix and the snowflake ones have popdots between them. Trying to remember who make the poinsettia's stamp but, coming up blank. its colored with tombo & SU markers.

More gift card holders
Same tutorial from the stamp tv video on these pop up gift card holders. did all of these in about 2 hours friday evening. started changing them from ribbon, glue dot closures to tied on lace tags ( works also) the only one that may be iffy is the twine tied, but the person receiving it is someone who saves my cards and is unlikely to re-gift it.
was thinking the guitar pp would work for the itunes cards, the others are a little more generic in case I dont use them at Christmas. may make some of these for next years booth too. June thinks she'd pay 2-2.50 for one depending on how it was decorated. so will see may make some more elaborate and sew on the papers and such.

Exchange Loot
Last night was the opening day for both the SCS Chatbox Chicks exchange and then 2 hours later the Wish Rak Exchange so this first photos are from Kris ( Thanks Chickie!) the unmounted stamps are from lili of the Valley. the large book in the back has monthly pages to write birthdays and such in it. I have never seen this green ribbon before ever or the green doilies so this was really cool stuffs, and I'm nearly out of pop dots. ( almost made me look over my shoulder when I seen those haha)
The cover of the birthday reminders book Kris made.
My wish rak gal who had me was Pansy c-mouse ( funny she had me an exchange or two ago too) and so, as I opened it I thought, I *almost recognize the handwritting, then I started to open things and I was pretty sure it was from Pansy, because I do recognize her style this box was so heavy and packed with loot. the clear tin in the back on the left is filled with handmade toffee, and the huge snowman in the center is an altered HUGE dark chocolate candy bar.
everything had these little white snowflake embossed tags with notes about what she was thinking on them and thought that is too cool, the little bird on the spools of ribbon is a key chain. got him parked on the table already :)
The handmade/altered goodies, that hello is a folded magnetic book marker. the snowflakes on that tin are metal of some kind. and the Christmas card is so utterly cool with the pearls added to the lace ( never seen that before, mentally copying it for future CASE ing haha)
I didn't shoot photos of things I did for the gals I sent to this time around. seems like time has moved into warp speed all the time now. every day.

Gift Card Holder {pop up}
Gina K Designs Winter Mittens stamps done with Versafine inks and color dusted with some old paper distress along the edges. this was die cut with an spellbinders labels 17 die. the sheer ruffle ribbon is from May Arts. cardbase is GKD fresh asparagus. the outside Check pp is from Echo Park. the inside dots is a double sided scrap ( unknown now) maybe maybe My Minds Eye...
This was done for Lee's mix it up monday Challenge at stamp tv. there is an 2 part video that shows how to create this, and believe it or not it really is easy, and if you have been peeking at this blog you already know I dont do altered paper projects... hardly ever.
You can watch the video's and read about the challenge here:
and if your like me and hardly ever watch video's because of the spits and spurts thing I just found this out last night but, you can click the pause button after you first hit the play button and the video will buffer ( dont know what this means ) but, after a few minutes it loads the whole things so it will play without stopping and starting and such.
