So far this weekend...

every sunday a challenge that comes out at Splitcoast stampers that is called Featured stamper. this weeks is Mercy FS120 and her galleries gorgeous i chose this card of hers for the inspiration for this card. I know i changed more then two things so, probably won't upload it as a fs challenge in the scs gallery. I have a really hard time following challenges because i use them more of a jump start, so the reason i choose this card was i loved her colors haha, but when i got upstairs my new stampscapes were going me me play with ME and i thought hmmm can you do a tall skinny scene? and then i remembered something Lori mentioned the other day, that Janice uses Chalks to color her stampscape scenes and so i was off and running. another "big bucks" lol IE Price less card: StampScapes stamps are: leafless limbs lg, ducks in formation, oak tree med, prickly branches, cloud (cumulus), Cloud Bar, Tall Grasses sm, Buck, Water Grass. Sentiments from the SU set "all holidays" (i think) Ink's are: Memento Rich Cocoa, London Fog, Dessert Sand, Bamboo Leaves, Tea Dye and Weathered wood distress inks. Neenah Classic Cream 80# cardstock, Creamy Carmel and Blue Bayou cardstocks, the dk textured brown cs is from Bazzill, the printed paper is from Dianesdaughters. the green glass dots are "water" dewdrops, there are pop dots under the skinny scene panel, the ribbons from May Arts. there is a bit of sewing thread and also some SU Stampin pastels (what they call chalks) on the images too... this is A-6 in real life. Now this one started a little different then most of my cards i usually start with the image, and this one i had these scraps from the card above and started messing with them thinking these will do a 5X7 card... then spotted this Eagle ( its from Expressions in Ink) and it arrived in my mailbox with the latest batch of stampscapes a week or so ago and this is stamped with Versafine Vintage sepia ink on Neenah Classic Cream cardstock 80# and there is just a tiny bit of su chalks on it and around the birds face. the papers are all the same as card above, mostly same inks and ect... the Felt ribbon came to me as an gift in my Mardi Gras Jester gift from Pam ( Thanks I've been hoarding this) the sentiments from Inkadinkado. the Antique crackling background from SU is stamped with memento tuxedo black on a scrap of the neenah then has Distress colors of peeled paint, old paper, broken china and weathered wood color dusted along it trying to mimic some of the texture/streaky colors in that printed paper.
Saturday Morning we got up and went to 5 yard sales at the second one i bought all of those stamps for a whopping $7.50 and a different one i found the jar ( i like these for my prima flowers i can get my whole hand into them) and the prisma pencils (which have never been sharpened!!!) pencils were 3.00 and the jar was 4.00...
Then an interesting thing happened at the last house we stopped at (that was not even in the newspaper i had just seen signs when we were driving around) we ran into my old CTMH demo (whose retired now) and as it happens had gotten her first cochlear implant on Tim's birthday this year. I haven't seen her in person in years ( her family moved out of this town to one south of here where their families live) anyways so we spent a little bit of time just catching up but, it was good to see her and see she is enjoying what she hears... ( as the mom of 4 who home schools I bet her kids are loving this just as much as she is not to mention her hubs ) anyways so far this weekend the tiles have been sealed and the tub/shower unit is in the bathroom now and Tim's doing the plumbing for that now... this could be say 3 weeks out to being "done" whoo! It will be nice to have a nice bathroom again. (all the ones in this house are yucky) (carpeted)

got sheep?

this has now become the "view" standing on the west side of our barn... so ever since we moved here Tim has been making noises about getting a couple of sheep... he says honey i just bought TEN sheep... and now that they are here it looks like we have room for 20 more... lol I was told they would be the size of Storm. they are taller. (not sure the real breed name of these particular kind of sheep ~ I have never raised sheep before but supposedly the black faced ones are the same as what you find in the meat markets) so these are intended for the freezer... but, now he thinks we have girls and boys and he may want to keep some... (gotta find out if the boys were castrated first though... ) and i gotta make a note to buy that man red suspenders... e- i e- i Oh...

another good day...

today was a good day at work, got good news (work related something that i mostly did myself that was a pain in the everything and it paid off) and got to leave early. and even better had this stamp in my mail box to come home to :)
peek at the diamond glaze...
I am such a sucker for tulips, this is an Inkadinkado tin can mail line collage stamp. its stamped with versafine vintage sepia on a piece of old basic grey pp and the edges are torn and inked with distress inks, the green distressed looking pp is also basic grey (something in the stores now) the black mat is Bazzill as is the green cardbase. black eyelets are unknown, hemp strings from walmart. there is some diamond glaze on the one red colored with markers tulip. the sentiments from A Muse. this is an Hand deliverable size card... 7 1/2 X 4 1/2 inches in real life.
When i was looking at the cut off piece of green cardstock from the tulips card above i thought oh that's nearly big enough for a card... so this ones 4 1/4 Square in real life, the Always birdy is stamped with versafine vintage sepia ink on a scrap of Neenah cardstock that was colored with peeled paint distress ink and sprayed with glimmer mist (sage) spray . the pp is basic grey, the mat is Paper Trey Inks ocean tides (totally yummy color note to self gotta order some of this one for sure) the mini brads were a free gift recently from atrs (when i bought a handful of stampscapes stamps recently) (see some of them below)
Bought this mousie for Alice since it was on her wish list, colored this a long time ago and finally got it onto a card today. basic grey pp, bazzill cardstocks & May Arts ribbons. its A-6 in real life. Sentiments from the su freebie set last winter called "congrats"
another scene card intending to send out as a dad's day card.
the scene it in a garden sets from su, the largest flower pot is from rubber stamps of America, the med and sm flower pot(up on a pop dot) are from 100 proof press, the sentiments from Printworks (Annette Allen Watkins line) the inks on this are Memento tuxedo black and rich cocoa Versafine Habanero & Toffee. used SU Earth Elements and Staedtler (basic colors) watercolor crayons with an aqua brush to color this, all the images are stamped on Canson Watercolor paper. The Mats river rock cs from SU and the blue base is Not Quite Navy. this ones 5X7 in real life.
This is another dad's day card... the PSX boats tied to the dock are stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa on Paper trey ink ocean tides cardstock These samples of this cardstock came to me via wish rak from Delse (Thanks Deb!) the sentiments from the SU set Many Happy Returns. the mat is a piece of Canson Watercolor paper sprayed with glimmer mist spray shimmery ink (sage and sea glass) the pp under that is from K& Co. (a pad they had at walmart a few years ago. the cardbase is unknown.
This is last nights experimental scene card... for the heck of it I made a pile of all the stamps and inks and papers on this very simple looking flat card... (yes this is a "big bucks") card... lol
its 5X7 in real life, with the following stamps: Sentiments from Savvy stamps in versafine onyx black ink, the stampscapes stamps are named: Meadow Large, Cloud Bar, Pines and rocks sm, pine row, fir tree, tallgrasses sm, lilly grasses, duck trio in flight, buck.
inks are: memento Rich Cocoa & London Fog, Ranger Tim Holtz Distress inks: Vintage Photo, tea dye, weathered wood, broken china, pine needles, shabby shutters, and Peeled Paint. the blue cardstocks unknown the brown is from paper trey ink and the green is river rock from SU. the images are stamped on Neenah Solar white #110.
and the reason its an "iffy" card for me is the colors i didn't get them blended as much as i wanted to and i had a hard time not tying ribbon along the side... lol

Before and After

The usual for the last couple of years is about one hair cut a year... ( I luves me some long hair mom) so, it was an utter shock that this year's whack arrived today... Mom will you cut my hair?
after (very pleased with this) course i think he's gorgeous no matter what but I'm enjoying the hair tossin, seeing those eyes and the smug pleased with it grins I've been getting ever since. Tim thinks it could have went shorter... such is life, I actually don't mind long hair, just as long as he keeps it clean. ( that has been an uphill battle for the last 6 months but, lately he's actually been keeping it clean) so it was a surprise that today became the day to cut it off... (almost had enough for a wig haha)

PIF image cards

Impression Obsession stamps (the espresso came to me from Leibetty ( Thanks LeighAnne!) its colored with prisma pencils, the pp's are from basic grey, the button brads are from MM. this one's 5X7 in real life.
This darling elephant came to me all the way from OZ. (Photoholic ~ Thanks Shannah!) its colored with prisma pencils and has been hiding in my colored images tin for a very long time (almost a year) I wrote down that its name was "oops ellie" from High Hopes. Funny thing i think my coloring is improving and the funny thing about that is this is one of the older ones, (one that does not make me want to just toss it and start over) the pp is from Basic Grey, ribbons from May Arts. and its 5X7 in real life also.
another really old one, this is an Changito Bouquet? (maybe) It came to me from Diane in Iowa (Thanks Diane) the green pp is from Basic Grey and the blue/green swirly pp is from Bo Bunny Press, the metal flower corners are from MM (and have a bit of sharpie marker in the flower centers) the blue cardstock was a scrap and the green is from Bazzill, (this ones 6 inches square in real life) sentiments also from the stampendous changito line (found it in a clearance bin and caved on it recently)

water coloring

Seen this stamp (Penny Black ~ When I'm with You) as an ending in a few minutes a few days ago and thought hmmm its a K size if you bid here and you win you'd get it for less... ( I win a lot less now a days because it seems like all the crazies have started bidding stamps up to way over retail) anyways if you don't know this you can get K sized Penny Black from Dick at HMstamps (where the majority of mine have come from) for 10.00 so now that the commercials over with the colors in this stamp just really grabbed me right up there with what it is, I don't own many bear stamps nor colored index sticker stamps so it just seemed a little funny to me that this one grabbed my attention so quick... This is stamped with India Ink Black on Canson Watercolor paper. then colored with Twinkiling H2o's (i have to remember to make a list of the colors i own since this co. that makes this shimmer drying watercolor pots is closing its doors and the stampstruck store in medford still has a few packs left) This card is 5X7 in real life, the textured orange cardstock is from Provocraft (one of those things i never thought i would use but hung on to because it was thick enough i figured i could spray paint it someday if i wanted that texture) and the green cardstocks from Bazzill. Wrights hemming lace. pretty simple, the sentiments from the Stampin Up set called Always. (love these) Index sticker was the inspiration for the colors of the bears image.
h2o's colors are: bronze medallion, ginger peach, persimmon, mandarine citrine, yellow rose, autumn butternut, sky blue, azurite, pink cloud, poppy red, green tea and heavenly bamboo

todays cards

the Hero Arts take time collage tag was stamped with Memento cocoa ink on one of those tags i dyed in the paas Easter egg dye... then over colored with copic markers, the "take time" was done twice so the top one is up on popdots. the flower in the tag hole is metal, the brads are unknown. the polkadot ribbon is from Basic Grey and the orange-ish/brown one is May Arts. the linen (or canvas i forget and mix them up all the time) background is stamped with versafine sepia on hammermill110 and cut out with pinking shears, machine sewn to the close to cocoa mat. Prima flowers, the su sentiments stamped in memento cocoa also. this is 5X7 in real life. Lee has a bling challenge for VSN Vegas at splitcoast right now and the challenge was to cover the entire image with glitter no bits and dabs of bling thank you very much, this really was an challenge for me since its not something i like to clean up... the Gina K. Butterfly is from the take flight set and colored with prisma pencils, the Whippersnapper sentiment is stamped on the same scrap of pale blue cardstock as the labels 4 die cut mat under the butterfly (but the cardstock is unknown) Printed papers are from Basic Grey (surprise surprise eh?)
an angled crop view of the BLING...
This is another Gina K set images (MyCuppaJoe) that came to me via the pif swap threads from Stampermom23boys ( Thanks Carrie!) its colored with primsa pencils and die cut with nesties, sentiments up on pop dots and there's a bit of diamond glaze on the beans... ric-rac's unknown. this ones a-6 in real life. the pink is Paper trey inks sweet blush, the stripe pp is from My Minds Eye. the green texture cs is bazzill.

this weekends cards

tried to edit this post from Tim's computer and he's done something to his settings again *sigh* so i no longer can do anything that needs an password cookie. This is why they call them personal computers lol... This ones for Tim's dad's fathers day. the Art Impressions Pierre is colored with prisma pencils, the wine bottle opener charm was found in the bead isle in an asst. package at walmart (years ago) cant remember who makes the sentiment its a newer one (and not a company i have bought from before is probably why i forget before i try to type it) haven't added it to the stamp blog yet for the same reasons.
Just messing around, got this SU branch out set from Alice's party and added some stampscapes grass and birds, stampendous sentiments up on pop dots with a bit of diamond glaze on the tire swing. its 5X7 in real life.
another one, but not sure i like this one, tried to do the sky with all the pale colors of blue copic's i have but, seems like a waste of ink to do so much space that way. this ones A-6.
there is a bit of pale green flower soft on this tree, and the first part i did with the flower soft glue and later as i was adding the diamond glaze to the tire swing i thought oh add some more floofy... well i used the diamond glaze glue. ( DON'T DO THIS) it peeks through the flower soft all shiny and bright when its dry lol so that could be another reason why its not going into the favorites thing...
If you could make a card for yourself what would it say? this one was going to have my hand writing scrawled on the lined paper backgrounder proclaiming you are more then just a number (which i know) but, still something that as i age and the pounds just seem to be migrating along my body rather then jumping ship when I'm abusing it on my bike that i wish i was seeing that number become smaller...
(don't we all?)
been trying to make some room in my colored images tin, because its full. the su background (soft swirls) is heat embossed in seafoam white on colormates mauve cs. (its more like thick paper then cardstock though so works well for layers) the insides of the hearts were colored with an copic marker. cat was done in pencils of course. its 5X7 also.
This dog always makes me laugh when i see it but the sentiments that come to mind are not out in rubber (as far as i can tell) lol $hit happens would work well with it too eh? Or Freeze! or cut it out off the grass and stand it up on its feet and say something like this is a stick-um up! (cut off the bee) at any rate i have a few of these colored and have a hard time thinking of which sentiment to add and came across this rubber romance one and thought hmmm maybe...
the my minds eye printed paper came in a slab type pad from craft warehouse and its thin. paper thin like printer paper thin, not at all like what they sell by the sheet loose.
so even though i don't like the stitching color thread on that ribbon its too late to change it because the papers so thin among other reasons.
just another simple one
The manila shipping tag on this card is one i dyed in the left over Easter paas dye. the pink button (a gift from stuffy! thanks chick!) is an BRAD which is kinda funny because, i did not read the package and pulled it right off the metal thingy that made it a brad so its held together with glue dots (Note to self: one of these days i gotta buy stock in that co.) and its large enough to cover the yellow part of the tag that did not absorb dye.
So it was a good weekend, pretty much had time to play off and on both days, Boys took me to the movies on Saturday. we've been talking about going and trying it ever since we went to Portland last for the dr. visit and so it went well there were maybe only a few words i didn't get (the girl who plays wolverines love interest who dies in the end don't know her name couldn't get every word she said must have been her voice) and but i knew this would be you know less conversations to follow seeing an marvel comic movie rather then an big drama. Alice wants to go see star trek some time (so does Tim) hopefully its nearly the same more action less talk. which is not how i like my books but for movies 'specially movies that are not close captioned i think that will be the thing for the next little while. and a really cool thing, Tim dragged me to radio shack yesterday and bought things to make my ipod cords that go from the sound processors be able to plug in at waist length now instead of me being able to plug them in and set the ipod on the floor... (and I'm 5'9"!) so, that is a lot less weight pulling on them too. which is freeing.

thursdays cards

This whippersnapper birthday bear came to me from CalBearStamper (Thanks Thao!) as one of the very first PIF images i ever snagged, i colored this a long time ago and fished it out of the tin this evening to pair with this Penny Black sentiment (up on pop dots) that just makes me smile. the pp is unknown, black cardstock is textured, the cardbase is pale plum and this ones 5X7 in real life.
Picked up these dahlia nesties when we were in Portland last time and finally got around to running them through the bug, ran some perfect plum and pale plum scraps through an swiss dots folder then die cut them into the flower shapes. the buttons from MM, dmc embroidery thread, unknown ribbon. sentiments from A Muse. this is A-6 in real life.

Birthday girl

This is Stuffy's birthday card (which she does not have yet its still in the mail) but, this Sugar Nellie's "Daisy" my absolute most favoritest SN stamp, is one that Stuffy gave me for Easter so it seemed appropriate to use it for her birthday card shes colored with prisma pencils with a bit of stardust gelly roll glaze pen and then die cut with the nesties label 1 die. the sentiment on the front is an dawn houser (maybe uptown ?) I've had it forever and can't remember ever using it, the inside has an regular happy b-day sentiment inside. the printed papers are basic grey, the tiny ric-rak is from Wrights.

5.04.2009

some from today

Been playing with the flower soft, (heather) this is an Penny Black fresh fields stamped in versafine Spanish moss on cream cardstock the petals were over colored with an bic-mark it marker, then the flower soft is in the centers...
Sentiments from Penny Black also. this is 5X7 in real life. the mulberry is from an old old mat stack and the stripe pp is from Chatterbox. the distressing on the edges of the stripe pp has some old linen distress ink on it also.
The only thing different about this is the pp layer is from provo craft i believe. ( have had this paper forever)
This Image came to me inside my Easter exchange gift from BasketBrains Thanks Stuffy! (best guess is she is an Elizabeth Bell design but not sure if shes an whiff of joy or an sugar nellies one...) shes colored with prisma pencils, the dew drops are also from Stuffy and the Sentiments from SU (not sure which set the rubbers lavender and Ive had it forever though) the printed papers are all Basic Grey except the stripe is a scrap of chatterbox, the ribbons from a left over project and originally came from the cutting dept at Joann's Fabrics. ( no idea on the mfg anymore) The edges of the main panel were punched with an EK success scalloped scallop border punch and the sentiment was die cut with petite ovals, (it's up on pop dots) this card is 5 1/2 inches in real life.
This one is an Wishrak Image from Collette (Thanks hon!) he's (Oakley in the tub) from whiff of joy colored with prisma pencils and die cut with labels 1 nesties, the texture under that is an a-2 plastic folder from Quickutz called dots and diamonds. the cardstock its embossed on was an sheet of gp110 sprayed with glimmermist, a tiny bit of the edges have been swiped with an dewdrops pad (same as the Oakley panel) the dots and stripe pp are from My Minds Eye. The Cardbase is Bazzill and this one is 6 inches square in real life.
Penny Black Fantasy tree stamped with versafine toffee on cream cardstock, the "blooms" were over colored with a couple of pink copic markers, the sentiments from the SU set (bloomin beautiful) the mat under this is creamy carmel, the background is an alcohol ink and the cardbase is Blush Blossom. this one is A-6 in real life.
I am always in need of welcome cards for the RAK group or new wishrak peeps and so this is something that as soon as i received some images from Leigh Anne i bought this one when i came across it on sale ( Inkadinkado reproduction psx image) (think they call these fine line classics off the top of my head) Stamped with Versafine vintage sepia on cream cardstock colored with prisma pencils and die cut with Curved rectangle nesties. these are A-4 in real life. the pp is from Basic Grey, card base is bazzill. the ribbons May Arts.
