Swirled Coffee Love

The Mix challenge this week was to repeat shapes.. so, I am not entirely sure this is what Ky meant by it but, this what I thought of. the Love is an embossing folder from Anna Griffin. it was pressed on some cream Neenah and then I had rubbed some vintage photo distress on the raised words but, it was pretty naked looking even with one of them having some metallic rub on's on the letters. ( as a reverse of this mug which was one of my Christmas gifts)

So, I grabbed an aqua brush and pushed on some more vintage photo ink with water into the background and it looks much better now. swirly cappuccino colors. The mug & sentiment (Impression Obsession) were stamped with some memento toffee crunch and the edges are vintage photo. those pieces are up on pop dots. this one is A-6 in real life.

Cake Inspired

The inspiration challenge on Saturday links to this MOD wedding cakes board on pinterest and this the cake I chose to be a jump start for this card. This is 6 inches square in real life. the cardfront is insulation pink from my favorite things. ( the whole of saturday was grey and raining and very dark for shooting cards) So, this has a crafters workshop swirly vines stencil that I smeared some delta rose whisper texture magic paint through the holes. while that was drying the pink vellum was cut (2 each) of this shape of flower from all three sizes of the sizzix tim holtz tattered florals. the largest blooms had a 2 inch gap between them and the next size down so I trimmed them free hand with scissors. and  I rolled all these petals around the handle of one of those sanding tools (same ones I use to curl the metal stems on wild orchid craft blooms) and kept pulling them up a little for some dimension. the button is hiding all the glue dots.

More December Daily pages

This page got the flip up photo of the framed ornament on the sideboard photo added to it, as it was one of our gifts from J.

This page got an instagram photo added to it. I guess I never got around to taking photos of the actual wrapping paper all over the floor while I was wrapping packages but, I know I blogged about wrapping so, its probably I just never printed those shots.

Christmas cards wer received. and no, I never  mailed mine out. I was originally going to do it after the holidays because, we shot a family mug shot and then people were like its after the fact you are too late so, you may as well save the cards for next year... *sigh* I am thinking I just may mail them anyways.

the left side is the back side of the pocket of cards and the right side is some shots at the airport.

when we finally received some snow it was the week after the holiday. but, it's all gone already again.

Danke Type

The ways to use it challenge this week was to "speak foreign" on your card... use a sentiment that was not English. I know there are tons of people that English is foreign to but, for me that was what it meant. This thanks sentiment is from Impression Obsession. the typewriter dye is one of the mini movers and shapers from Tim Holtz sizzix line. I have not played with it before so, it and the tag were cut from some saw grass neenah the colors of this look a little off on the monitor but it's shades of cream and black and very pale green. the lace ribbon is felt from recollections ( a couple Christmases ago, the gem is also from them) the printed papers are from DCWV. so this one is 4X9 in real life. the dovetails of the ribbon were evened up after this was shot. its one of those things I never see one is longer when its flat on the desk only once I have taken a photo does it catch my attention. ( ribbon tails)

from scraps on the table, the one on the left is 3" square in real life.

WOYWW #293

A peek into my space tonight. ( its still Wednesday on the west coast) if you'd like to play along and or visit more desks you can find this week's line up for the blog hop here on Julia's blog

Well, here it is tonight. I am doing some last minute package wrapping and using some of those poppies. ( did also after this stamp some of the smaller ones) if you squint really hard you will see the two old stamps that followed me home from the swap meet, the weed sentiment is from PSX and the quilted looking shamrock is from Peddlers Pack.

just tissue paper with mostly vintage laces and or some ribbons. the copper cords are elastic.

the butterfly in the top right is one of those wooden veneer ones it's covered with old basic grey pp and the edges were filled and then inked with an peachy shade of water based marker. ( forgot to look at which one) I deliberately crumpled the darker shade of tissue before using it as wrap. not sure if I like it or not but, after I had done it to one, I figured they all (that color) needed to blend and crumpled them too.

Forest Shadowbox

This was done for this weeks featured stamper Ann whose card you can see here. This is A-7 in real life.

Changes I made were to flip it to landscape and I tied on the sentiment. ( and all the dies and papers)

I had cut these IO deer from a scrap of something I had painted with distress crackle paint a while back and part of the paint flaked off the antlers so, I daubed a copic marker on them to cover the glaring white. The edges of the sentiment tag were inked with some creamy brown chalk.

This was wet while it was shot so, it was lined inside after. the snow is from lawn fawn and the petite oval die is from spellbinders. the rest of the scene dies ( trees and deer) are all Impression Obsession and the tag die is from my favorite things. the matting is some cream cardstock that the anna griffin folder was inked with mellow moss before it was pressed. there is a bit of white gel pen and stardust stickles on the boughs. the big photo corners are from Heidi Swapp.
