My actual desk on Wed night, this is left over piles from maybe Monday night? the pile of flower stamps are ones that my son's girlfriend is interested in coloring some time so, they are piled up to be stamped for that purpose. The other piles are the left overs from the first card she made, I should have made her grin holding it for a mug shot ha ha.Ooh I have a new phone, the camera is so much cleaner than my old phone. I am really enjoying this but, have not taken that many shots as of yet.

 playing with both of them. And so, hugs are being enjoyed even though he will have over a month of self quarantines after the fact. 

Inspired by {Pippin Poppycock}

 This week the Inspiration challenge is headed to the Pippin Poppycock site where they have some really beautiful shots organized with colors of yarn fibers, and I kept coming back to this one because of the color combo as I have a little stack of backgrounds made during DTGD to play with on hand. 

The background started as a piece of cream cardstock that was run through a Cuttlebug seashell collage folder and inked with some distress Oxide inks ( antique linen, salty ocean, pine needles & vintage photo) and spritzed with some water for oxidized spots. the numbers were all rubbed with some copper metallic rubons and the edges of the seashell have some pearl rub on . The seahorse was cut from some canva paper from strathmore and inked with some distress oxide speckled egg, antique linen, mermaid lagoon & vintage photo inks but, when it was spritzed with water, it just blended and faded the inks rather then giving it the oxidized look flat cardstock produces. so, for texture I added some nuvo drops in a couple of colors and kept adding ink to the paper trying to get it to have some color to it, then rubbed the extra ink off the tops of the drops. The Impression Obsession sea fan die was cut with some Neenah speckled cardstock and I did wrap some teal eyelash fiber around the whole thing a couple of times.

So, this is what my desk actually looks like this morning after 21 plus Dare to get dirty projects were completed and a few that fell short. the pile of left over backgrounds were ones I did for my own challenge and the photo below I meant to put into that chatter thread and some how did not. the pile on top of the file cabinet, see that basket that is over flowing? (that is new stuff I have not played with and the piles in front of it are also new stuff that did not fit in the basket and stuff I played with that needs put away still. yeah. for some reason it was easier to make piles than to put it away.

Distress Oxide inks on embossed panels.A few of these were used on various other challenges over the week and they can be seen in the previous post.

Now, this is something I did when I was making my sample for Lori's challenge and normally what I do to hold something in place to run it through my sewing machine ( yeah, I don's sew fabric very often I am much more likely to sew on cardstock) I wrap say lace or ribbons to the back side of the project and use a piece of scotch tape that is more towards the center and not where I am planning to stitch to help keep it from wiggling. but, this time I have the sentiment on a piece of vellum that I had cut the edges with a die the same as the panel below it and I wanted the scallops to align and for some ( who knows why reason I decided to try using the washi tape to hold the top piece of vellum on. ) and I was nervous about this as the peachy cup below that was PTI sweet blush cardstock ( and it pills and shreds if you do much of anything to it) so, I was really hesitant to try this as I could just see all the stitches turning out OK and then having the cup peel when the tape was removed. but, it worked the finished card can be seen two posts down from this one. :) so, that's my tip of the day. in other news the winds have been blowing the other direction for a few days now so, its been nice to see mountains and be able to breathe again lately. Dare to get Dirty the outtakes

 

So, Diane has a challenge and I kinda sorta did what I read in the title of it rather than what she really asked for. ( it happens, I read the words and I get an idea and its easier to just give in and make it than let it sit around hollering for attention in the depths of the thought pool) kwim? This dog is from Impression Obsession ( water colored on wc paper here) and the sentiment is from stamping bella tiny townie loves her dog set. This one is 5" square in real life, the frames were made with some stitched square dies from scraps of things previously made. ( if I make a frame sometimes I make a second one smaller from the drop piece and set it aside )

Now, this started out being for Nancy's challenge. The tag is really an off white speckled color cardstock that has green acrylic paint on it this was cut with a Mama Elephant tags a lot die which is about A2 in real life with a stitched edge. the faux leather fabric was ironed to some fuseable web and cut with a Sizzix primitive star die and then ironed onto the tag like an iron-on patch. The sentiment is from Papertrey ink. The ribbon is an old one from maybe micheals maybe joanns from their Christmas line a few years ago. The cord is hemp string. and after it was done I realized I did the same thing to her challenge as I did to Diane's and so, since its still cool in its own right I am going to go ahead and share it here but, I did not put it into the gallery at SCS. 

This was going to be a combination for Susan's challenge and the Inspiration site that Amy shared a couple of weeks ago and I just even now I cringe when I see the piece I water colored next to the printed paper. ( its just too busy for me to see the pale solid colors be book ends here, I think I would have liked this much better to go solid, print solid print rather than solid print print solid. kwim? ) It was tossed into the box headed to the booth in November. At any rate I did get half of them posted to the gallery so far and that is a good feeling for me. Dare to get Dirty {the Pandemic Addition}

 

 

This first card was done for Lydia's first Dare to get dirty challenge. The holly pieces are a tim holtz Sizzix die, the background behind them was done with oxide inks and the sentiment is from the Simon Says Stamp fa la la set.

This was done for Dina's challenge the bingo jean and b four sentiment are from Art Impressions the happy birthday is from Stampin Up.

This was done for Lori's challenge. the mug is a picket fence studio die, the background is a Simon Says Stamp Pretty Peonies background and the one in the front is from their Stamptember beautiful flowers 2 set. the sentiment is from Impression Obsession.

This was water colored some time ago the Simon Says Stamp pinecone background and I used it for Angie's challenge with the Impression Obsession sentiment.

This was done for Kitties challenge. the background was spray painted with Krylon webbing spray. the sentiment die is from Echo Park. this one is a slimline size in real life.

 

This was done for Ann's challenge. The dies are from Memory box & Hero Arts, the sentiment is from Mama Elephant's Holiday Messages set.

 

This was done for Jeanne's first challenge those birds are from the Simon says stamp fingerprint doodles set and the sentiment is from their tiny words birthday set.

This was done for Lori's challenge. the unicorn & sentiment are from Clearly Besotted.

This was done for Julie's challenge using one of the bitty Hero Arts images I colored on the airplane last year at Christmas. this one is really 3"x3" in real life.

This was done as a combination of Polly's challenge and this week's inspiration challenge that Kia hosted. ( and they did not go live on the same days so, I did not post it until both were live) the Embossing folder is from Memory Box.

This was done for Kelly's challenge using a trinity stamps gal and a Hero Arts sentiment.

This was done for Carla's challenge, the sentiment is from Club Scrap and the background is one that I believe that embossing folder is one of my mil's Anna Griffin ones. ( its not in my basket at any rate so, I am not sure where I got it from) (besides the file cabinet ha ha)

This was done for Judy's challenge and I used the design inspired by this week's featured stampers card seen here for placement jump starts. making a few changes of course, the stencil in the background is from My Favorite Things and the birds are from Art Impressions.

This was done for Bev's challenge the elephant is from Katzlekraft and the sentiment is from Dylusions.

This was done for Sandee's challenge. The dies are all from Memory Box and the sentiment is from Paper Artsy sara naumanns set #39.

A closer look at the treeline, hopefully you can see the stickles glitter glue in this shot.

This was done for Lyn's challenge. I had originally thought to do shapes that would look like cat food but, I really didn't have any stamps that looked like that so, I decided to go for a modified cereal look instead. Riley & Co. sentiment.

This was done for Marg's challenge, the top layer on his hat is dyed cork paper. so, it has fun textures in real life. (SSS gnome die)

This was done for Vicki's challenge, the sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Designs.

This was done just messing around for my own challenge of which I ended up with a pile of backgrounds and I chose the most unlikely one of the batch to do the sample with. the pine bough is a SU folder and the sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp.

This was done for Nancy's dare to get dirty challenge. Its been a long time since I have stitched anything and so, I evidently need more practice again haha.  The tag die is from Papertrey ink and the snowflake is part of the plush line from Memory box.

This shows the gift card a little out of the pocket to give you the idea. 

This was done for Kim's challenge. the doctors bag is from Impression obsession and both sentiments are from the Simon says stamp tiny words encouragement set. 

So, after one week ( well really a little longer as I had the master list of challenges in advance like all the host's do) I have about half of the challenges done and posted. with a few more bits and pieces that need finished on the table. Hey, its just been crazy here. the smoke has been unhealthy for a week now there are so many fires burning in CA. This is proof that I do make it up the stairs though. One of the Dare to get Dirty challenges that is under construction. I broke out that container of Paper glaze I got in the mail a few weeks ago now and the color if it has this metallic shine when its wet and dry so that is fun to see. I think I have done at least half of the challenges so far, and I have not gotten to blogging about them yet but, hubs leaves on friday night for Deer hunting season and so, I will have more time to putter around with just me and the dogs home so, I am planning to do some posting this weekend about that. all of the ones I Have done that are live already are in my gallery at SCS if you are curious. there are some things that have been pushing me out of my comfort zone which is always a good thing I think. and of course I have played in the ones that I instantly had an idea as soon as I read the words so far too. It's one of those things where you just wish for a little more free time in the day. We are doing well here and hanging in there.  Hope you all are too.
