So, there is a coffee lovers fall/winter blog hop going on now, and there is also Fallidays challenges happening at SCS. some of my previous entries are in the posts before this one.  I always need a pile of gift card holders for work turkey cards. ( they are really gift cards to a one stop shopping place that even has a gas station) because, in the past employees were sent home with a turkey at Thanksgiving and at Christmas and one year we received a turkey that was bigger than our oven. Yeah, for a long time now we have just gone the gift card route. I had seen there there was a make a gift card holder as one of the Fallidays challenges and I started doing these last weekend from a die that I had not played with previously ( I don't think)  but, I had no time to mess with them on Monday so this is a Tuesday when I got home shot and yes, I deliberately left it looking like this since then just to have something with more texture than my glass mat to shoot for you all ha ha. The washi tape is a recent birthday gift from Cortnie that I had opened yesterday as the shop trucks are rotating through tire places and the dealerships for tires to be swapped out for winter studded ones and oil changes and I took some scraps and skinny dies to work Monday with the intentions of cutting some in the slow times but, forgot to haul down some washi tape so, a roll of that went to work yesterday ( and no, I did not have time to cut any) but, today is one of the days I will be there without my truck so as a captive audience I just may cut some bitty memory box to-go coffee cups. I have an idea for them to use as ornaments on a tree and I really don't know if it will work but, that's one of the ideas floating around in my brain while I was wishing I was at home from work. It is Veteran's day in the US today and I have an idea of what I want to do when I get home again so, hopefully I can get this mess moved out of the way first.  And the most exciting news is I signed the contract for the fiber line install yesterday so, hopefully I will have a count down to install it date soon. Coffee Lovers Fall/Winter blog Hop {day 4}

 Hi, Welcome back It's day 4 of the Coffee Lovers fall/winter blog hop and this is just a simple one because, I wanted the sentiment (Katzelkraft batman darkside quotes set) that made me smile to have center stage. ( it was impossible to catch the lights on this but, all those coffee beans (honeybee stamps) have been covered with some diamond glaze so, this has some pretty cool texture and shine in real life. The sentiment panel is up on foam pop dots over that background. There is a little bit of espresso distress oxide ink along the edges of that to help transition from all the white to the background a little easier on the eyes.

 

The beans were stamped with Versafine and watercolored with a handful of brown waterbased markers. The sentiment panel was diecut with a My favorite things stitched rectangle die and the beans on it were also covered with some diamond glaze. the textured ric rac was something I found in a local craft warehouse store ( a few years back) it had no mfg. info on the spool. This one finished out at A2 in real life.

Day Three {Coffee Lovers Fall/Winter blog hop}

 It's Day 3 of the Fall & Winter Coffee Lovers blog hop. (you can find all the details here to play along and see some neat projects) The hashtag for social media is #fallwinter2020clh

This is a closer look at the gal from Unity Stamps set called Just what I needed. She was stamped with versafine on some strathmore Watercolor paper and water colored. and then when that was dry I added some stardust gelly roll pen to the splatter and buttons. there is also a little bit of Polychromos pencils in her hair and shading in the clothes.

The sentiment is also from Unity Stamps the cute Snowman to go set. This was cut with a Simon Says Stamp sentiment strip die. I did get some Karin skin tone water based markers recently. ( and there is a learning curve like anything else) the only skin she was showing was the hand. and you guessed it, it was the last thing I needed to color and instead of making a puddle on the glass mat and lifting in some color I went direct to paper with it. ( it was dark) and not at all skin toned looking, I have actually lifted a bunch of the color away with water and then the paper started to pill so, I stopped. I think that its not really the first thing you notice about this card and I will give it away.

Today is the day a new Featured Stamper is celebrated at SCS and today it is Jane, as it happens I have admired the colors and detailing of this pretty card here since she posted it so, I did use it as the inspiration to jump start mine. I kept the colors, changed the theme & used the vertical wood planks to mimic her score lines. The wood grain print is some very thin paper from Recollections, and I cut an offset window through it with a Waffle Flower A7 lacy layers die. I used a blue fine liner pen to draw the faux corners from the window on the wood paper. I also moved the sentiment to overlap the image. The base is some Bazzill and this one is 6 " square in real life. We actually got our first snow of the season here last night and So, I am picturing myself being just that bundled up when I head outdoors later. Thanks for stopping by.

Day two { Coffee Lovers Fall/Winter Blog Hop}

                                                    A closer look at the center of the card.

on Halloween I happened across a post that Amy had made inside the facebook group about a pre-order from Stamplorations for November ( you can find their home page here) where the current specials are listed. And I caved, and the stamps arrived in the mail last night (YAY) :) it is upland game bird season here so hubs was out the door at ohdarkthirty today and I started coloring this image from the holiday mocha feels set  With some polychromos and prisma pencils under a couple of ott lights. ( if you click on these photos it will enlarge them and you can hit your browsers back button to continue reading) that was finished off with some clear wink of stella on the foliage and some Nuvo crystal drops on the coffee beans. This was cut with a My Favorite Things mod stitched square die. The coffee bean background is a 6" square sized from Honeybee Stamps and it was stamped with some pinecone versafine on Kraft cardstock and colored with ground espresso distress oxide and 4 different water based markers. 

 

The finished card, there is also the annual "Fall-days" challenges holding at SCS at the moment and Misti has a use buffalo plaid on a holiday card as a challenge and I thought this ribbon picked up the colors of this card really well. ( I guess it is not a true "buffalo" plaid, fortunately there are no stamping police ;) ) This card finished out at 6" square. Thanks for these challenges ladies & thanks for stopping by.

Inspired by {Plaid Crafts}

 This week Julie is taking the Inspiration to Plaid crafts online you can see their site here and their pinterest boards here. I knew in advance that the Coffee Lovers blog hop for the second half of the year would also go live on this day and so, I did look for "coffee" as a jump start inside the Plaid crafts site. and I came across those cool painted travel mugs seen below.

 

 I really loved the colors of the paints so, that was my main thought followed by scales of products I have collected over the years I knew I could jury rig something that would work. ( an ornament on a cup) so, these to-go cups are My Favorite Things LLD coffee cup die cut from some Neenah solar white 110#. The ornaments & their decorations are from the  Lawn Fawn stitched ornaments set of dies. These were mostly also cut using Neenah but, the heart is some colored cork paper from Die cuts with a view. The gold is some shimmer and there are bits of stickles crystal glitter glue, gold elastic cord and foam pop dots also on these. I colored the blue one with a Zig clean brush marker and a gold gel pen. The sentiment is from the My Favorite Things Coffee break set. The frame was cut from a piece of Craft Consortium Festive Grunge paper with a Waffle Flower lacy layers stitched square dies. The sentiment the first time around I stamped it directly to the frame but, it was in a really dark grungy part of the print so, I re-stamped it on a scrap from the frame and paper pieced that into the frame for some subtle texture. I think it makes it a little easier to read. This finished out at 5 1/2" square in real life with a base made from Stampin' Up!'s Bermuda bay colored cardstock.

So, you may have noticed that the Falliday's challenges and tutorials opened on Monday. ( you can find the threads here) and its a more relaxed deal than any of the others. the challenges load monday, wed, friday with a tutorial on those days also. So, two of the challenges on monday involved watercolor paper and diecuts so, I grabbed a couple of holly & berry sets from Sizzix cut some pieces and started watercoloring them on monday night after work. ( I did finish one tuesday am before work) seen below and the other is still sitting there waiting for how to continue with the leaves for the other. And yep, today a new batch uploaded but, I am not stressing this as yesterday the school officially called it that they cannot hold their fundraiser craft bazaar like usual. ( most places called theirs last spring) but, this school really depends on this and waited until the last minute to say we are not in a good enough place to continue. ( the limit is 100 bodies in a building here and there are more vendors than that) So, on one hand I have been expecting it and not really doing the craft like a crazy chick thing this year but, on the other hand as it got closer I kept stressing about the what if they really hold situation as I do not have the number of tags I would normally make and sell ready. So, I just took a big deep breath again and said this is the first year in a dozen years that the only things I need to make are what I want to give away. and that is a very freeing feeling. 

The card below is the one off to the left in the desk shot above. ( its water colored with distress oxide inks) and I will be picking up the Ice for work today and I know I have not been making the rounds. but, I hope you are all doing well and Thanks for stopping by.) 

This sentiment is a stand alone one from Unity Stamps. and this card is a funny little 5" x 4 3/4" in real life. I did tuck some glue dots under the edges of the leaves the next morning when it was dry and then ran the whole card through the big shot so smoosh it all together a little better so, nothing pops off it in the mail down the road.
