This week Denise is sharing for Inspiration The Permanent Garden site and collection of Pinterest boards seen here. I started on the Christmas board and I found this display of Bottle Bush trees in the Milk Glass. and this is something that I could very easily do at my house as I have both the tiny bottle brush trees and milk glass so... it seemed like fate and I stopped looking.
And since I have piles of Postage things on the table at the moment. I decided to go that way with the framing of the display.
So, I used a piece of Mixed Media paper that had been cut with the 4X4 Cottagecutz postage die and then used the Picket Fence studios Evergreen Stencil with some lost shadow DOX ink to add some depth to the background of the diecut. I kept adding those star banners (Penny Black) across the top and I do like how that looks but, its distracting and not really part of the scene on the pin so, they are waiting for the next idea.
And I wanted some bottle brush trees in the foreground.
So I stamped some of the small Bottle brush trees from Tim Holtz's set with DOX inks and then cut those out with scissors. I am not sure if that is one of his stamp sets that have dies or not but, the ones that interest me the most are the more complicated stamped images, these were pretty straight forward to cut out. So I started laying the things on top of each other to figure out the design. I had pop dots under the trees and the Christmas trees label ( its from the Winter Woodlands set also by Tim Holtz) Stamped with some Lumberjack plaid on Neenah Environmental and then the edges were inked with Vintage Photo and Scorched Timber.
I cut a piece of Neenah Solar white for an A2 card base and ended up cutting out that last tree to have it be "out of the lines" the Joy here is from the Spellbinders Christmas 2024 set and then the from our home to yours. ( I don't remember off hand) but, that one was inked with Lost shadow & iced spruce on the edges. I also added some crystal stickles to the bottle brush trees for a little bling.
I think I may try this idea again with more greens on it but, I was trying for more neutral like the pin shot. That's about it from me, If you'd like to play along with us you can find this challenge here at SCS. Thanks for stopping by.
