A couple of Fathers Day cards

Tim was called back in to work tonight, ( poor guy had to get up extra early for an 8 am dental appointment. they've put in yet another temporary and he'll have to go back again next month) this is the continuation of the second root canal /crown this year... so, anyways had time to mess around and get his fathers day card done without him seeing it. :) the lure stamp is from Northwoods and the sentiments from A Muse. tfl. I'm almost always running behind with personal cards anymore, this one is actually done a little early ( since its hand deliverable) :) My FIL is a cancer survivor and that's what he did after the treatments was sell his biggest truck and buy a 'Vette. :) this card is 5X7 the sentiment is from Stampin'Up! (the set with the pheasant bird in it) don't remember the name of the set though. the Car is colored with Prisma makers, the su white gel pen and the sakura gelly roll stardust pen. ( there is also stardust bling inside the letters of the sentiment) the car panel is up on pop dots. the ribbons from May Arts and Offray. the red pp i think could be provo craft and the cream with black dots is K& Co. tfl.

A Virtual (reverse mask) challenge card

This card came about for Jan's Virtual swap with a twist in the stamp shack, this one instead of mailing stamped images Jan is sending people mask's of the scalloped square Punches. So i said, you know, i have those punches. I want to try this... how i did it was. This card is 5.5 x 5.5 in real life, in shades of browns and gold. I did this last night when it was too dark for photos and truth be told when the sun first comes up it still is... ( might re-shoot this later today) I started with a scrap of printer paper that i punched the hole in. then I taped that to the cream card stock. Then i stamped the image of the little shoppers (Art Impressions) through the hole in Nick Bantock Vandyke Brown. Then I placed a mask of the shoppers over them. and stippled brushed some old paper distress on top to cover all the holes inside the punchie hole. ( then i took the paper i had taped down off my cream card stock) then i placed the scalloped square over the top of all of that stamping and stamped the Worn WallPaper ( Stampers Anonymous) over the top of the whole square in tea dye distress. I have a small pile of distress foil transferred backgrounds i did a while back and i ran one of the ones done in tea dye through a Swirls cuttlebug folder then most the edges were trimmed with Pinking deco scissors and then layered to the card front. the Memories is a K&Co. sticker from walmart. the only lumps on this card are from the Prima Flowers. tfl.

Happy Birthday Bella card

the colors of this one came about from a comment left for me in a gallery on the Emmerson card i did the other day... the comment was to the effect of, oh i like how you colored her to match the paper... and that never occurred to me, I actually colored her, then looked through my scraps for pp that would work with it. so this card i tried it the other way around, i stamped this Bella the other day for some rak but, didn't send this particular one out because if you look close at her feet you will see a black halo effect of ink ( which is why the grey shadows are so dark on this one) so, this card i pulled out the piece of Chatterbox paper out of the bin and then colored the Bella. its layered on some diecutswithaview cardstock and the green is old olive. the card base is a watercolor base that is not quite 5x7 and i think its from strathamore or some co. like that ( envelope is slightly textured too) The sentiment stamp is from Rubber soul and stamped on a SU tag Punch that has some aged mahogany distress color dusted on it. the "trims" are scrap pieces i had cut off the edges of the mat papers with deco scissors. had orignally thought to stamp maybe some thread type edging on it, then looked down that my trash baggie had already been removed from my room so, put them on the card instead.

Gifts for a Gardener

been working on collecting garden related images all winter more or less. and then started stamping them and coloring them with Prisma Pencils here and there. This is a look at what has been done so far. This took me forever to do this... this photo was shot with two over head lights on and two ott lights on the table on in broad daylight. (I'm going blind) but, maybe so is my Camera... when you color with your nose two inches above the image it really tells you how little light there really is. I wanted to find some old canning jars with the screw on one piece lids to put these in, but, couldn't find any big enough. so they are inside of 6inch wide cello baggies from SU and then there is a 6X4 piece of scrap my minds eye pp on the top. then just punched a hole for the too big to fit in the package tag to tie on the outside. My thoughts about this was that every single person i know who grows a garden grows too much... so maybe these could get tied onto food gifts?? Made a bunch for DH that I am thinking i would be the person to tie them on the food... and i probably wont color the next batch, just distress the tags and stamp them. most of the images are highly detailed ( IE a pain to color) *Ü* Hopefully they will be well received.

A card from Scraps

Ah I have loved this sentiment since the first time i seen this one. ( Its an American Art Stamps from the Emmerson line) I've decided she has grey hair as no one i have ever met has that kind of pragmatic "wisdom" with out the aging that ads the grey hair to you... *Ü* This card is 4X6 and colored with Prisma markers and pencils, I tried to curl my wrist as i was blending the dress to make it look like the way the fabric may drape, but the photo makes it look like the colors are streaky or something. ( might just re-shoot this card later ) I did this one from scraps on the table, the cleaning efforts are finding it easier to make more cards from the pile then to put it away... hee hee good thing J doesnt read my blog eh? so far, i have finished and packaged up all the N atc's girls too... there is a package ready to go to Sandy ( cards for the troops that were too big for the box i just sent to Korea) I have a package for Joy, ( sorry its been so long) some stampy raks I've promised out. Looks like Tuesdays postal run is gonna be an adventure so, I'm trying to get everything i need to mail together so i can just go through the line once this week. ( sounds like a plan eh?) oh, and I'm already out of 2 cent stamps again...) so gotta remember to pick up all the odd sized postage stamps again... The new star wars stamps were supposed to hit out post office on Saturday i think, so I may get a few sheets of those too if there are any left. More cleaning is on the adjenda for later today and A is taking J to go see the new spidy movie... so, he's pretty excited about that one. I want to see the new Pirates, but, I'm trying to decided if its really worth it for me to go, ( I usually buy the dvd's because they are CC ) but, i have went to the theaters over the last few years to see a couple of things (mostly Harry Potter or Star Trek) movies where I've read it or I guess i will get whats going on from the visuals... Oh yeah i still need to know about the Longaberger baskets care if anyone knows?? Thanks and have a good what's left of this weekend!

I have Happy Mail today

I have Happy Mail today! :) I DID get new stamps.. these are not the test ones, these you can buy right now. ( If you sign up for the email newsletter they'll give you a coupon and there are no shipping charges) The flower may possibly be stamped upside down. ( not sure but, i liked it like this ) there is some yellow stickles in the centers. ( Its part of a set called Beauty Bouquet) I had stamped it and masked it then layered two more on the tops on slim pop dots. this is 5X5 in real life, used up a stray scrap of that BG pp from yesterdays card. and the sentiment is also from Rubber stamping Fun. You may have noticed I'm tinkering with my blog template again... ( I'm actually cleaning) haha.. so It may take all day to get it set just so... Probably have to re-shrink the header photo again. In the old template, i had inserted it as an 800 pixels wide and it was too big, but when i moved it all to this one 600 pixels wide was too small so, i put it in as 800 again... but, its probably going to need shrunk down a little. I have mostly been following the directions in Godelieve's blogger "how to blog" http://whitemontana.blogspot.com/ The guys are going fishing later when they are done mowing the neighbors grass... so hopefully there will be more play time later.

A few 3 x 3 Note cards

I have been doing smaller and smaller cards lately probably from experimenting on the tags. ( will post the tags eventually) these ones are 3X3 in size they are on pre-made cards from packs i got from SU last winter, the green is thyme and the reddish color is cranberry crisp. the yellow printed paper is from Basic grey. On this one the Penny Black flower looks like a dandelion to me, and its stamped with colorbox antique gold Mica magic. { I finally got the re-inkers!} the pads now work! ( bought 3 of these pads out of a clearance bin last summer and then spent a few odd moments here and there looking for a store that sold the re-inkers as the pads i bought were hard as a rock and completely dry...) Its really a pretty ink on dark paper. there is some paperbilities (paper covered wire) tied around the stem and then the Sentiment is stamped with Versafine onyx black. the corners were done with an upside down half circle Su punch. ( I seen this tutorial on someones blog recently and have since forgotten whose... Thanks! ) There is some gold Krylon leafing pen on the edges of the card. This one is a reproduction PSX stamp (put out by Inkadinkado now) and the sentiment is from Cats Life Press. its stamped on a Large Su oval punchie. the Black cardstock has a funky texture to it, you can probably see the parts that look like they have less ink, its the texture to the cardstock. This stamp would probably look better on something flat because of the details to it. I'm thinking today could be the first day the Rubber stamping fun stamps could come in the mail... ( got my fingers crossed anyways! )

Something A Little Different { I think }

Sometimes i think all my cards look the "same" which is just silly, but i guess i have
some kind of internal radar that recognizes them as "me" :) I think the only thing that's really different about it is i used colors i tend to avoid. ( peach and yellow )
Who knows. this one is 5X7 and the flowers are newer ones from Stampendous, they are
stamped with Versa fine pigment ink and then colored with Prisma markers and pencils. the
sentiments ( hero arts and stampendous ) are stamped with Versafine also The LOVE is up on the slim SU pop-dots. The vintage yellow
lace was an yard sale find last summer. (note to self: you need to pick up a paper and find the ads again)
There is Christmas Red Stickles glitter glue on the blooms and just randomly placed around the bottom. the pp is from Basic Grey. TFL.

~~We have a Blog Candy Winner!~~

J just drew a name from all the print outs of correct guesses
( it is a bloom on a herb Chive plant)
The winner is Jessica C. ( I'm gonna email you in a minute to get your snail mail)
And thanks to all of you who played, there are more people reading this blog then
I knew of. ( who knew? )

Saturday's Note cards

I have been wanting to play with those prisma markers, so i started coloring some of the random images i have stamped and put into My stamped images basket, ended up putting all the raks, and ones I've made from my stamps into one larger basket so when i feel like coloring I can just do that. This image is from Holly Berry House, and the sentiment is from A Muse art stamps. there is stickles glitter glues and some red liquid pearls on all of them. Looking at them this morning I am thinking ha! they look a little Christmassy. ( is that a word?) :) This one, the sentiment is from the dollar bin and Micheals, and the dresses are from Memory Box. all of these cards are 4 X 4 and on DCWV card stock. tfl.

the whole plant

Oh and i was looking for the "common" name so all the people who emailed me the Latin name are also in the hat! :) I will continue to take guesses until i get home from work this afternoon, then I will print all the emails and have ds draw a winners name tonight. if you have been playing and have not received an email back from me, I have not received it. I have answered all the mail i have received. thanks for playing! ~Stacy

5.20.2007

another clue

This is the image you are guessing on, so far one lady is in the correct plant family (close but no cigar...) DH Say's this is "too hard" because the macro version (cropped) appears larger on your screen then the bloom is in real life. this is a look at what yesterdays photo looked like before it had the not in focus blooms in it too... the whole plant will be here tomorrow am. good luck! :)

Tickled PINK!

:) I don't know how many of you read the comments other people leave on the blog when you are reading them, but, when i leave a comment on someones blog i usually read the ones that went in before mine after it posts mine to the list... ( and i read all the comments left on my blog ) and i found this one the other day: comments: Allison said... Wow...these are great! 10:16 PM Allison said... Stacy, I chose you as my Inspiring Blog of the Week...come have a look!http://stampinwhenican.blogspot.com/2007/05/for-this-weeks-selection-i-chose-stacy.html 10:50 PM and low and behold if you visit Allison's blog it links you right back to mine... Allison's Blog Is this like the neatest thing or what? You guys need to check out her blog, it has fantastic cards on it.! Oh yeah, and keep the guesses coming! there is no limit to how many times you can guess and yep, global priority goes everywhere (pretty much except huts in Africa i guess?)

More from the Garden, & a Little Blog Candy

We Made a Home Depot / Liskey Farms run again this morning...
Found this really cool looking flower
at Home Depot, its only a perennial to 10 degrees though, so I'm going to experiment with it up against the house. ( I do have a carnation now that has survived 2 winters near the front door steps) its a Mini Queen of the Nile. ( have to read the tag to tell you the real name of it.)
Storm likes it enough not to eat this one so far...
Tim's seed trays, tray closest to the right has Sunflowers :) the rest are veggies... Okay if you have read this far here goes the gardening Blog Candy Question:
what is this bloom below? ( the purple one?)
if you have a guess click on the email me button under my photo at the top of the blog. If more then one person correctly names this flower then all the correct guesses will go into a hat and i will have J draw a name. I will leave this open all weekend. so let's say Monday am I will post a photo of the whole plant. good luck! oh the winner will win something garden related stamping stuff...
Remember to see the photo larger click on it, a new window will pop open with a better view.
The add an email me button is not working... Most of you have my email already, but if you don't my user name on all the stamping boards i belong to is JBgreendawn.
for having this blog i have an email called jbgreendawn@gmail.com I will work on checking the mail there this weekend for this contest...
hopefully i can figure out how to set up a link to the one i read all the time... *Ü*
two more clues...
I did not plant this today ( or even this year or last year its on a 2 year old plant) and we live in Zone 6.

The Pitfalls of a Shared IN Box...

as silly me i am sitting here laughing at my self thinking that the owners of the rubberstamping fun store have been busy all week maybe with a new baby or something... but, i just found in my inbox a mail i had not read. ( if someone else has the mail open or turns on the computer and it checks the mail sometimes it opens the one that comes in first.) so mail that is not bold anymore has already been read. you see where this is going right? yep I DID have the mail to order the free review stamp set, but it was not marked as unread so i never read it till just a few minutes ago... so this gist of this ramblings are, hey the stamps have been chosen and now i can start stalking the mail lady again... Have a good evening!

More RAK images cards...

I have all these cool images to play with thanks to Renee and Sherri! *Ü* on another note, they are in a longaberger basket ( that has the plastic thing and a fabric liner) And the other day i was looking at my baskets wondering if there is something i am supposed to be doing to them? you know like putting furniture oil on them or something?? I know they are wood and very well made, but, i don't think i have ever read of how to care for them. and i do use mine every single one of them that i have has something in it... This one the sentiment tag is up on pop-dots, the image and punchie are from Stampin Up. and the Bella is colored with Prisma Pencils. this card is 4 x4. the printed paper is from rubber soul. This one is 5X5 and the Bella is colored with prisma pencils, the sentiments from A Muse and is up on popdots, the stripe pp is from Chatterbox. tfl!! The colors may be a little "OFF" as i shot these photos before the sun came up this am.

5.17.2007

Just Because { From a R A K }

I received this stampendous pail topper image inside a huge rak (random act of Kindness) from Sherri {ILuvFlipFlops} a few weeks ago, and its colored with Prisma Markers and is one Die cuts with a view pp and cardstock. Its 6 X 6 in real life. I had intended to put this into my cards going to troops in Korea box, and this afternoon i started packing the box and all the cards that are 6X6 will NOT fit into a flat rate (deep short) Priority Mail box... ( Waaa!) it's Ok i have enough of the a-2 and 5 x7 sized cards to fill the box for Kristy to distribute, but now i will have to figure out something else for those cards, maybe mail them separate and just not as many at a time or something.

5.16.2007

A day later... {more of the garden}

Since i shot this photo, this bed has also been filled in with good dirt. got on the waiting list for DH to design me some more of these, bought this one at Joann's fabrics at least 4 or 5 years ago, and what they are selling this year, does not look like this, so i have put in a request for 3 more of them, and i just gotta make sure to pick up some coconut liners before they sell them all... Yellow tulips are blooming so is a whole bunch of the Iris, this particular one is about 12 inches high, (a miniature one) Bleeding hearts ( this is one of the plants i transplanted when we moved) it gets about 4 feet around now! Lilac bush that came with this house is blooming now too!

Newer Cards { as previously promised }

In the stamp shack they do something called an Virtual swap, where the owner of the stamp, stamps it and mails it out to anyone who is willing to come up with an project out of it and post it online so all the players see one other idea of something to do with that image. Joanie hosted one recently where she stamped two of the flowers in the window frame stamps and two of the tea cup borders stamps and sent them out. this is what i did with mine, i actually used both images on one card. the one above, is colored with prisma and crayola pencils and blended with an prisma colorless blender pencil i found at Micheals last time i was over the sentiment is from A Muse Art stamps... This one is 5X7 i stamped the hero arts scalloped ribbon stamp four times on pink cardstock with aged mahogany distress ink trying for an old fashioned lace trimmed shelf look. then after i colored all of the tea cups ( which was harder then it looks because these are really tiny and detailed) i went over the tops of them with that you guessed sakura gelly roll pen. ( i am having too much fun with this, good thing there are two in the wrapper) The sentiment is from Stampin' Up These Prima flowers were new to me, I ended up buying them to get the magnetic metal tins they were sold in more than to get the flowers them selves. I'm intending to alter the containers to be fridge magnets when i use up the petals. This one is going in the Korea cards box, figured since I have already done a pile of baby girl cards i should add some boy colored ones for balance. the buttons have Karen foster scrappers floss tied through them. Love that stuff, it doesn't shred when you try to poke it in a hole like real embroidery floss does. this one is 6X6 in real life. tfl.

A Week & A Day...

I have done a lot of digging this week. This photo above, was some of the last flowers i grabbed right before we moved. It was in early November so the ground was pretty hard and dry here and this was a spot that could almost pass for a flower bed, so on one of the trips of hauling boxes between the houses, i grabbed a shovel and popped these out then brought them over here. right near the back door steps. If you know anything about Iris you know that the tubers are planted really shallow. like right under the surface of the soil more or less. At the time that these were transplanted here we had had Slick for less then a month and she as less then 5 months old. And so, we took her everywhere with us. the number of times in her life that we had her that she was not with us we could probably count on both our hands & have fingers left over to wiggle... This is where it gets funny. She used to watch everything intently when she was that age, and because she was an "only" dog i guess she learned some of her stuff she thought she needed to know from us, and somewhere in her brain i think she seen those Iris tubers as "B O N E S" from then on if one of us gave her a bone, instead of digging a hole to bury it, she'd put them on top of the soil maybe toss a little amount of dirt on top (but only in flower beds. and usually up against the brick borders in side the flower beds) We moved a lot of dirt this weekend, and we are still finding bones in the flower beds... ( Storm is finding them too now) a closer look
So, I wonder what he's thinking watching me up root and re-plant all these.
there was Iris down the entire length of the south side of the house where i moved a lot
as a temporary spot. two springs ago. the photos above are the only plants i have yet to move.
have taken over 10 wheel barrows of yucky dirt out so far and hauled it outside the fence.
This has driven home the point that i really need to find a winter time activity (that does not include wiggling in front of a mirror in a gym) to keep in shape because sitting down all winter
in front of your computer not only grows blog posts, it also grows extra hips, thighs and rubber band arms... ( can you read that i hurt everywhere?!? )
got new cards to share too but, will do that in another post later...

5.12.2007

Did a little shopping this morning...

I think this could very well be the coolest sofa i seen (lately) the plus part here is Lucas and Howard were having their anniversary sale today, so they had already taken the price tag down a hundred dollars for the day, but even better, if you say the magic words "If i pay cash today how much of a discount do i get" the price goes down again! whoo! I wanted to get the love seat too, but there was not enough room in this room until the bricks around the fireplace come out, so, I ended up ordering a matching Ottoman ( that will take 4-8 weeks to arrive) but, the best part is as soon as it gets here its paid for too. Cat's been napping on it all day and that really looks like a good idea to me too. You know what this means right? I can start my stamp budget again and hopefully get the ones on the su list (little spring book) that i have been drooling on my monitor over the samples of for how long has it been out now anyways? long time... :) On another note, I have found some thinking of you and pet sympathy cards in the mail box this afternoon. Thanks! I cannot tell you what that means to me to think there are people (even people i have never met) who cared enough to send them to us. Tim can't read them yet, but I will eventually make an album for slick and put them in. Today the email came with the link to the online catalog of Stamp sets to pick from to test drive for the http://www.rubberstampingfun.com/ site. This is going to be more difficult then i thought it may be, as there is more then one set that looks like it would be fun to play with. I'll have to remember to ask if I can buy extra ones. Anyways, that's about it so far for this weekend. Have a good whats left of it! More later, Me

Stamp therapy

A little something from today. Last Saturday morning i found that one of the eBay sellers i had good luck with getting Hero Arts stamps (at less then retail) and Quickly has opened up an actual store, http://www.stampandthings.com/servlet/StoreFront so I ordered these Saturday and they were delivered Tuesday. (pretty cool to me) I had originally thought that getting the leaf doodle flower would be like owning the SU doodle flower but, this is smaller in real life then the SU flower. This card is 5X7. But, now i am thinking oooh you may need the SU doodle set too and then maybe able to layer the two flowers petals too. (not sure yet) may borrow Alice's set to see what happens with that. I don't know if you can see the Bling, but it was done with a sakura gelly roll star dust pen. It's completely flat, and dries really fast. the flowers stamped on pink bazzill ( the flat back side) & are colored with tombo Markers #772 & #837. They are layered to the basic grey printed papers ( I am gonna cry when i use up all of these they have been some of my favorites to play with) The sentiment stamp (Penny Black) is punched with the largest scallop punch, the ribbons from May Arts. there is a little bit of Tattered Rose distress inks on the edges of the Punch and the printed papers too. TFL.

So, What color are you?

You are quite the powerful thinker. It’s this talent that allows you to overcome a plethora of great obstacles. Luckily, this doesn’t affect your ego and you give off a pretty easy-going appearance. You enjoy the finer things in life and also have an attraction to art. If you can help it, you try not to rock the boat. But you also can’t stop yourself from searching for new ideas, methods or styles. what color are you? http://www.truevaluepaint.com/content/Color/ColorQuiz.aspx
Tim is brown, If it’s in the outdoors, it’s for you. It’s probably this appreciation for Mother Nature that leaves you with a calm appearance. Not attracted to anything bizarre, you’d prefer to keep your distance from the latest fads or styles. You swing to the conservative side, and are comfortable when everything is in it’s place. While you enjoy other’s company, you feel most relaxed when it’s just you, yourself and you. and we both agree both of our "descriptions" for our colors suit us...
but yellow?
Why couldn't these words come with pink or green?
LOL
did anyone get pink or green?
