got to stamp a little today

In Between what seemed like endless loads of laundry. The problem Ive noticed with the summer is when everyone comes home for the day they change their clothes, so were going through twice as much as when its too cold to be wearing so little haha... strange eh? This image came to me as a RAK from Sherri (flipflops) I had mentioned seeing this on eBay (for an obscene amount of moola) and she happened to have one on hand to stamp... Its from Paper Impressions and she did it with black ink on glossy cardstock, i added some waterbased markers to the words and the jack-o-lanterns, and the girls face. the had i added a button with some black string through the middle. the ribbons from May Arts and the background PP is from My Minds Eye (wild asparagus) you cant see it in the photo but i dragged an Nick Bantock bright green inkpad around the edges of the image and the pp.
Now these are headed to Daria, the main images in the tags are from the gift she sent me for being one of her drawn winners for the two peas Christmas in July challenge she had... Wasn't really sure what to do about that ( she mailed me 3 Stamps!) so, i used them all on scraps on my table today... (plus some other ones i did recently) hopefully she will find a use for them. These are 3X3 in real life.

Happy Mail

Today I arrived home from work to find a clubscrap pizza box ( fed ex delivery) leaning up against the back door... this is the prize from the Caardvarks challenge last July. The paper says it makes an "perfect bound Notebook Portfolio" The cardstocks has neat texture and rich colors. ( its a little off on the burgundy in the photo its not that pinky red color you see). ( or that i see anyways) :) I doubt if i will follow the directions and assemble it that way, I'm thinking the pp will make a lot of cards.

Knitabella (RAK image) Thanks

I may have mentioned that Alice and my MIL both KNIT? ( this is one of the first wish raks i have received since i joined the rak group at splitcoast) (SGC also sent me some cruiseabllas to play with too) anyways this is a little something i put together for my mil. She's colored with prisma pencils. the sentiment is from SU (2002) with tan colored rubber, but i don't remember the set name and its not in the binder i made for my self of alphabetical sets so if you recognize it please share. :) the colors are dusty plums in real life, the pale plum cardstock was run through an textile cuttlebug, then inked in chocolate chip dye. the chocolaty brown wide organdy is from Offray and an recent Joann's find. Yummy. The mini brads are from lasting impressions. this one is 6X6 in real life. Its going to be another long week, so probably not too many posts going in here. I am (almost) done gathering the back to school list, and new wardrobe for J. (whew!) went to staples this am and picked up a couple of 6 drawer iris carts on sale and ( 3 of the penny packs of pencils haha) I'm hip deep in re-arranging things in my space. still purging too. I might take some photos later if I get it more presentable. I have finally finished sanding all the used wood blocks i bought on eBay too, so hopefully i will come across my foam mount and can get started on that. ( got my naked rubber tins in a pile) I have more things to get done then time to do it ( just like everyone else haha) good thing i have been up since 5... Is it Nap time yet?

{ Sneak Peek } Tami's round robin

I joined a round robin image swap in the stamp shack recently and everyone had to stamp images, and then everyone is making cards with each others images so the cards that come to me in the mail will all be made by a different stamper but with what i sent in to Tami ( which i have already forgotten what i sent) lol i think it was a background but, I'm not positive which one... this image is the one that made me glad there were two each to play with, i ruined the first one thinking oh it needs soft colors so i tried to color it with chalk. ( big mess ) didn't color very well with chalk... this one i inked it a bit with some distress ink's then did gold krylon along the edges of the image.
this is the one i did first, i knew it would be the "hardest" one for me, i find it fairly hard to color large images, and this one is pretty big. I'm hoping to change that after Flexie does her tutorial on coloring...
this one looked like it should be "rustic" to me, the image has been color dusted with some distress inks, then is matted with an Faux linen that is green and tea dye distress colors.
this one made me smile, it was also the last one i did, the inside is stamped with " If the broom fits... Fly it!"
this one was really hard too, so i at first it looked like a very modern type art thing to me, and the colors were really stark when i was done and my husband thought it looked like a thanksgiving card, but to me it was way more spooky then that, so, i ended up covering the entire image with some metallic yellow mesh stuff that came in one of those QVC kits (scrapbooking ones) a few years ago...
This one i colored the image with Prisma pencils then added some diamond glaze to it and popped it into the freezer to crack the glue.
think that's about it, will pack them up and get them ready to mail back to Tami tomorrow. but, planning to not leave the house tomorrow so... maybe mailed out on Wed.

a quicky for Mrs.P

I don't know how many of you know this, but my long time stamping Buddy and friend Stampin Meg has been published in the this years TAC catalog and idea book... WHOO! you go girl!
have a little happy mail headed your way,
the background was done with alcohol inks a long time ago, the psx peacock is stamped in versafine olympia green as is the sentiment from RubberStampingFun. the gold on the edges is from an Krylon leafing pen. tfl.

Little reminder & More Happy Mail

This is just something I've had in the back of my mind for a while as a Little reminder to the person i used to be, She still surfaces every now and again. I decided to make this a year ago. ( when i got around to it) my round-2-it arrived today... the clipboard is on the thin side and i have added a magnet to the back side and put it on the icebox... ( thought about putting it in my office at work, but maybe next week) the Clip boards can be found in packs of 3 at Oriental Trading Co. the Printed Paper is from an 6x6 pack of LilyKate Basic Grey, the pod branch stamp (Hero Arts) is in Versafine Vintage Sepia, and the Computer font is called Will & Grace. the to do was done on a Label maker and that part of it is up on pop-dots, the bazzill pink cardstock was punched with the Spiral Punch from Stampin'Up. That piece of swirly chipboard (that i no longer remember the MFG info of) is painted with MM pink paint then has old paper distress ink on it. the edges of the printed paper and cardstock all have Tattered Rose distress ink on them. this is 4X4 in real life. It went together pretty quickly so, I am thinking of doing something like this but maybe flat ones as gifts...??? In July Daria hosted a Christmas in July challenge at two peas and at the end of the month she had her dad draw names of 5 people who entered into it to win something... this was my (not so little) something i won. :)
This also was discovered in my mail yesterday Karen sent this one to me and I know its hard to see but this Kitty's collar is all bling bling , as is the heart in the center of the crown. What a darling little card eh? Thanks Karen! :)

More Inkspirations Cupcake cards

just something yummy from this morning, took a break from sanding the wood blocks... ( did a dumb one, purchases some used wood mounts on eBay last week and am still trying to clean them up to actually mount rubber to them and use them) they had the old foam and the old index stickers on them (which peeled off pretty easy) and left behind a pile of sticky wood... So, I have been making a pile of my unmounted rubber to match up which ones will fit onto the blocks and so i can mount them...
these Inkspirations stamps come as unmounted naked rubber and i have rolls of the foam that is for mounting them on wood in the closet.
The card above was the first one i did, the background under the cupcake is from a Hero Arts dot background as is the zig zag stitching stamp, the sentiment and the cupcake are from Inkspirations.
this one and the one below are nearly the same card, but the layout is reversed a little, the printed papers are from Die Cuts with a view and the happy birthday Tag is from Stampin Up. the ribbons on both cards are from Stampin up.
When you see those large pinking edges on my cards they were usually done with real fabric pinking shears ( as they are made so much better then the deco scissors made for paper crafters)
my absolute favorite deco scissors are the mini pinking shears though, I wish i could get them in real fabric scissors too... :) the holes for the ribbon were punched with an McGill long reach ribbon slot punch.

Rockin'Girl Bloggers

ah I have now received this 4 times, and so by my count i owe 20 names to list to tell you who i think is a rockin'girl blogger... :) This is almost an impossible task as most the blogs i read have already nominated each other I think we are all increasing our blog reads from each others lists... :) I have been Nominated by Penny, Sandy,Beth & Jan, In no particular order here are my top 20 rockin' girl bloggers i peek at regularly: http://stampingmathilda.blogspot.com/ http://flexies.blogspot.com/ http://andisperfectgravy.blogspot.com/ http://www.thechattystamper.blogspot.com/ http://thimblesbobbinspaperandink.blogspot.com/ http://smileycollector.blogspot.com/ http://dappledesigns.blogspot.com/

the thing for this is very simple for each time you have been nominated you nominate 5 more people and you add this pink rocking girl blogger badge to your blog (if you have not already done so. (right click and "save it" to your hard drive to upload the same way you would any image)

These are the 20 blogs i read first (besides the four from the ladies who nominated me) yep, I know most of them have already been nominated already but as you scroll through that list perhaps you will find a new place of inspiration to peek at.

I have some happy mail today, no photos. Im usually busy when the light is "good" here now, so Im probably gonna have to make my self a light box to shoot into. I won a drawing at two peas from Daria for the Christmas in July Challenge and the 3 count um yep she mailed me 3 stamps! for that...

and I also received a gorgeous thank you card from Karen. (photos could arrive tomorrow) (i hope) :)

have a good evening!

Bellas and More Bellas

All of these Bella's came to me in RAK cards and envelopes from ladies in the stamp shack... When i first asked for some to play with several people sent them to me and i put all the Bella's into a baggie together, so I cant tell you who sent me which ones anymore... anyways, I recently joined the Birthday list in the stampshack and so, I am going to be needing more girl cards soon... so, I thought these images would be fun to use for girl cards...
this first one came about because i was eyeing my Primas thinking there's gotta be a way to use them up a little faster then two or three at a time. (which looks nice but holy cow there's a ton of them in those bottles you know?)
this is the whole card, there is some stickles glitter glue in the centers of the flowers and the wings are colored with a Sakura Jelly Roll pen in stardust.
each of these cards is A-2 in size, this one the ribbon is unknown, the sentiment is Hero Arts and the background Mat was run through an D'Vine swirls cuttlebug folder.
This one the Just for you is from Impression Obsession, the swirl ribbon i picked up a yard of that in the not so local scrapbook store in Medford last time I was there at the first of the month, and i no longer remember who makes it. The background pp is from one of those mat stacks (die cuts with a view) i thought since the next bunch of cards i will need are starting into fall maybe fall colors would be good...
this one got a little too much ink on her, but the rest was so antiqued looking that the white cardstock she's stamped on was just a little TOO white... the sentiment is from Inkadinkado, and its up on pop dots, the holes along the edges were done with that SU piercing tool template.
this one the Happy Birthday is from Rubber soul and the Wishes is from SU. the ribbons are May Arts. tfl.

Very Happy Mail

Isn't this just the coolest thing? I know its hard to see, the lights been terrible here for photos the last few weeks.. but, this is a strip of hand stamp card stock with slits cut into it to become a closure for an gate fold card... :)
This really cool card came filled with TAC images from Flexie! :)
Pam sent me this one with some Stamps Happen Images inside that i have never seen before, I have never played with anything like these yet, so I don't know i will do them justice but, it will be fun to see... :)
I'm in an ATC swap with a few gals from CKMB (which i have not visited in years) and this one came to me from Julie, and the last time we talked she did not have the computer technology to upload her projects to the Internet, so i used to put all her ATC's into the sunroom ages ago... Still don't know if she can post but, funny thing she is a member of Split Coast Stampers and found some of my cards there online recently... All of Julies cards are gorgeous in person so, now i want to make time to see if she ever did start uploading so i can "catch up" with the cool stuff she makes (that doesn't come in my mail box ha ha) :)
This is such a different kind of a card to me, It came to me from another of the ATC gals ( Meg ) and its just very textured and very modern, I keep fingering the grooves in the embossing...
Holy cow is that the most perfect flat bow you have ever seen or what?
( I am so tempted to pull this apart and figure out how it was done)
a while back i signed up to join a user group at Split Coast ( the RAK forum) and i mostly put it out of my mind after I applied and then Saturday I received to Welcome to the forum cards, and then two more today. (scroll down) how cool is that eh? its nothing like i thought it would be, its waay more complicated... but, should be interesting to figure out, one of the boards is a Challenge Rak and the challenge for this week was to find someone (in the RAK forum) who shares your birthday and send them an UN - Birthday RAK... considering there are 2500 plus members, it took me a while, but i made it through the list and found two people on it share mine so i sent them both a little something today. :)
This card is also an Split Coast Welcome Rak. It was hard to photograph the colors are more vibrant in person, the entire card front is hand stamped and this was the very first card i received and opened from the group... :)
This card is neat to me because i have that stamp and as soon as i opened this card i squealed, i have never thought of it in this colors before and it totally looked like an Poppy to me this way, very Oriental. :)
I didn't photograph it well, but the bumps are shiny silver (bigger then mini brads) but like metal bumps i guess, Not brads, Lots of interesting stuff going on with this one. :)
This one also came today, and a funny thing, the inside she wrote the note on a sticky note and then put it over the stamped sentiment on the inside.
( like this card could be mailed out again)
and i thought wow, i never thought about doing that.. I usually just write in them, figured if people wanted to re-use them they could cut the card front off and stick it on another front.? ( I actually save all the cards that come to me) but, lately i have been considering doing just that making them into cards that can be re-used and then putting them into one of the boxes of cards being mailed to the troops ( not every card) just some of them. I currently have 2 huge binders of greeting cards, and one basket full of them. ( plus i have huge binders full of ATC's which i wont part with as most of them are like little hands on classes you know like someone was trying a new technique then made it into ATC's to play with)
anyways I have also made 5 Bella cards, but evidently this is the photo limit it wont let me put them in this post so they will have to go through on their own post.
tfl.

Something really COOL *Ü*

To me anyways...
I have been looking for one of these for about 8 or 9 years now... found this one yesterday at a yard sale, it was 2/3 filled with cassette music tapes...
for the bargain price of (your sitting down right?)
One Dollar!
yep, you read that right...
looked at DH and said, any tape that doesn't play or you don't want we can toss, but that rack is MINE...
( it has one hundred slots)
so, i still have a drawer of ink pads on the table, and maybe 16 or so of the other su dye inks i never use on the inside of the closet door still) but, this puts all the main pads i use most often within a fingers reach...
the side of the box says Napa Valley Box co. and its like heat branded ? embossed but not burnt into the wood...

More from today...

ha ha funny thing my folder of cards i have made this year has so much pink in it, and i had already forgotten what i named these images it took me a while to find them skimming the folder. :) this stamp set is from SU and one i just got last Friday from my MIL's last party. the sentiment is from an hostess set called bloom with happiness that i got at one of my last parties.... the Printed paper is from Basic Grey and the ribbon is May Arts. the cut out flowers are up on different heights pop-dots. this card is 5X7 in real life.
This is another of the A.I. Backgrounds left over from Sunday, it has the SU stipple Hydrangea on it and the sentiment is also from SU. (but i have to look up the set name it an old old sentiment set) its on a Marvy punch of Basic Grey pp. this one is also 5X7 in real life the textured pink card stock is from Bazzill. the Brads are lasting Impressions, the copper colored card stock is called Really Rust from SU. and the copper organdy is a generic ribbon you can get like 25 yards for 2.00 at a Craft Warehouse store. ( I think this is a west coast chain though)
I planted these from bulbs last year, and last year all they did was make stems, no blooms... so it surprised me when they came back up this year, figured they were (not hardy) and not really for this area...??? this year they bloomed. these started a while ago, and i was looking at them today going, those are not going to last much longer...
this is what the plant looks like, the blooms kinda remind me of Freesia... but, i dont remember the name of it. evidently it IS hardy in zone 6 however... :)

oh and I am Locked out of 2 Peas Again!

last week i noticed a note on the board from Karen that she tried to pea mail me about a stamp question, so i sent one to her... ( apparently when they "fixed it" last time it only fixed part of the problem, i still do not receive pea mail... so last Friday there was a pink bar across the top of the message board that said there are known issues with your email address please click here and confirm your email account (again) so i did, so i can no longer post at peas again, until someone fixes this, the fix is they are supposed to email you a confirmation code. (last time this never came they fixed it manually some how) so, i have created "new help me tags" in the service center and emailed the person who emailed me a while back... so far no response. unfortunately i cant remember how long it took them to fix it last time...

ETA: now my service tag reads "assigned" but, i still do not have any pea mail... fun thing over the weekend Sandy congratulated me on winning a Christmas in July challenge that Daria Hosted... I have been trying to not look at Peas right now, it irritates me to no end to see something and not be able to type something in response. so I am impatiently waiting for this to be fixed...

(i wonder if i should give them the gmail addy?)

ETA: I DID give them the gmail addy and the confirm your email came in instantly so i can now chatter at peas again... Yippee... but, if you are a member of two peas and you pea mail me, it goes to jbgreendawn@gmail.com ( same as this blog) and i don't check it on a regular basis... it won't bounce anymore, but it may take me a while to find the note...

Some Guy Cards

When Alice was over Sunday afternoon we made alcohol ink backgrounds and some foil transfer backgrounds and things like that... this is one of mine. the Decoy Image is from Impression Obsession and the sentiment is from Stampin Up.
this one is 5X7 and the sentiment is from A Muse and the decoys are from Impression Obsession. the barn wood pp is from Wubbie.
the happy birthday is from My Sentiments Exactly and the Mulberry paper is unknown. this one is 6X6 in real life.
The Pheasants circle is from Northwoods and the thinking of you is from A Muse. another Alcohol Ink background.
the Decoy is from Impression Obsession and the thinking of you is from A Muse. its stamped on an alcohol ink background. there are some more but, no photos yet. I have caught someones cold and just got up from a nap... (yep, you know you really caught it when you can fall asleep in broad daylight)
So I may tinker with this post more later,

New Stamps in the mail this afternoon...

hee hee the inside will say... good bye waistline... ;) pp is from K & Co. the Hello is Stampendous, the Baby Cakes is Lockhart Stamps and the cupcakes on the tier is from a New Company for me, I got them from the store that Sherry owns Inkspirations in Canada. ( this is from a plate of unmounted rubber) (same as the stamping bellas) the big brad is from MM and i may change that its a little to glossy for the distressed look i was going for on this one.
This one is also 6X6 in size, the Background behind the cupcake tier is done with alcohol inks and an Pouncer tool on glossy card stock ( its a left over from an AI class i taught last winter) the silver Organdy is an retired ribbon from SU. the sentiment is from Stampotique Originals.
This one, the sentiment is from Hero Arts, and that grey lace is (twice) its flipped upside down on the bottom piece its from Impression Obsession. (as is the heart) the mat is torn vellum and the ribbon is May Arts.
This is one from Yesterday, I received my order from my MIL's latest su party and i got that ticket corner punch (fun fun) and the Baroque Motifs set. the Background on this is done in Tattered rose distress ink with the Big Swirly stamp from that new to me set. the little love tag is from a su set called Love is in the air, the Look inside is from CatsLife Press and the Heart is from Savvy Stamps. I missed the light today... so the colors of all of these cards are a little OFF and a little light streaky... May re-shoot them later...

Do you ever second guess yourself?

This afternoon I read a post about a lady diagnosed with Cancer and her friend was requesting a card shower for her... I wanted to make something along the lines of "go fight win" but, this is what i came up with instead, and now i am second guessing my self if its too generic??
the sentiment stamp is from Great Impressions. its 5X7 in real life, there is tattered rose distress ink on all the edges of pp. the floral pp is from Basic Grey. the ribbons are May Arts.
tell me the truth, would you send this to someone you didn't know? or back to the drawing board? ( mostly i need a sentiment idea) making cards is not a hardship for me... but words i am at a loss for...
I guess i should add that i have been fortunate that all the people i know or love who have been diagnosed with one form of cancer or another up until this point all of them have had successful treatments... so its a hard thing when you know the odds are really stacked against someone. I do own a clear sentiment that reads, "I'm sending a little prayer your way that GOD will keep you in his care..." ( or something like that) but, if you don't know the person you don't know how they will take that depending on their faith... so, its almost like talking about politics at a dinner party...
and generic is safer i guess...
I do have a Thinking of you that's about the same size and could fit there... just the card has so many flowers you know?
thanks again,

Something for Alice

So, My friend Alice claims my cards are worth more then the time and trouble and money it cost ed her to pick up a marvy punchie for me at the lss... haha. so, I made this for her last night. (gonna let her pick a card out of my stash next time she is over too) but, this started out looking at a dare to get dirty sketch but, i tweaked it too much to post for that i think. the sketch is not for a square card and the vertical ribbon is wrong for the sketch too... this was done on Basic Grey pp. (from an 6X6 sized pad) did you know they re-size the paper smaller for those pads so the big big patterns work better for cards on them that way? fun stuff i found. the Little shoppers is from Art Impressions, the Tag Alphabet is from SU and up on pop dots, the Love printed flower is from Heidi Grace. (can you believe i found that at my Joann's?!? not me either) the chocolate satin ribbon is from Offray and a recent wal-mart find. (also found it a little wider for like 10 yards on a roll for less than 2.00) Anyways, we are off to do some shopping in Medford today... Happy Mail is coming to me today too, I DID remember to order a printer and this time around i ordered an Wide format with all the ink colors in their own cartridges kind. (fun stuff) They are offering 50.00 off of HP printers at Staples and then they have 40.00 rebates on them... (so this printer will cost significantly less than the one that just died) Yay :) Have a good day! :)
