A catch-up post

This was done just using up things on the table the background was done with riding hood red cardstock and a Neat and Tangled fa la la stencil with some hot foil transfer gel medium and silver transfer foil in a laminator. The snowman is a Sizzix die and the sentiment is from the mama elephant holiday messages set. ( this is A2 in real life)

now this little tag was a one of a kind one done and tucked into the raffle basket for the shepherds market booth last November. for some reason the shot never made it into that blog post but, the body is completely covered with clear wink of stella here.

These were ones I made before Christmas that I did not end up using or making personalized the holly on the right is a new one from Simon Says Stamp. the red tag on the left that flower in the center is a pre made one.

These were done as just in case back up cards which I ended up setting aside for next year, the stamps are form the concord & 9th o Christmas tree set and there is some snowtex on the boughs and along the ground of the trees.

This was done for a free for all challenge to make a Christmas card that was not red and green, and I knew I had this paper waiting to be used so, I went red, grey, black and white for this. the Die cut sprigs are from a momenta die that is a wreath and the sentiment is from Hero Arts heat embossed in some SU white powder. that printed paper is from photoplay the mistletoe line. And then I out smarted my self and this is too wide to fit in a standard business envelope. This card is 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 and I normally do 4X9 but, I wanted the white border and I think I will have to be cutting that off if I want to mail this out. ( or send it with a package inside a box)

Now these were done jump started by this cool card in Susan's gallery ( she is featured stamper this week) I knew I had this pad of paper from Kaisercraft that was black & whites and creams with Christmas so, really these almost made them selves. the hounds tooth print is from Teresa Collins and the sentiment is from the My Favorite Things bitty thanks and gratitude set. ( for Christmas gift thank you cards) These are A6 in real life. And this cleans out my 2019 folder of photos to upload haha. Thanks for stopping by.

Booth Production Continued

 the large sentiments here are from the taylored Expressions line and the berry/leaf diecut is from Penny Black.

 the snowman and flower pot are older SU stamps and the sheep is whippersnapper.

 The poinsettia is a tim holtz die that has a matching embossing folder, the reindeer is a poppy stamps die

 all of these are from Taylored Expressions ( sentiments )

 The penguin here is from Impression Obsession.

 I felt like it was taking too long to stage these little cards to shoot them so, then I switched to this mode so I could just get more done.

 and a little bit after this was shot hubs came home from bird hunting.

 The foiled ornaments on the next four were all done in a gemini foil press with a picket fence studios hot foil stamp/die. the sentiment on this one is from stamping bella.

 The hot foil sentiments are from Spellbinders.

 This is an Anna Griffin cuttlebug folder.

 Anita has a tree's fallidays challenge so I paired this Hero Arts cathedral of trees background stamp with this Club Scrap sentiment.

Misti has a bring the out doors in challenge and so, I was able to use up a couple of the leaves and berries ( Penny Black ) that was water colored last weekend. the sentiment is a creative expressions die. and that's about if from me for today. Thanks for stopping by.

Birthday Gifts

 

Handmade Birthday Cards I had received from Stampers. 

 Some cards I received during/after Dare to get dirty last August.

For my birthday at work instead of a cake we tried that new bakery give me some sugar and had an assortment of cupcakes to choose from. the ones on the far right have chocolate covered coffee beans on top. ( had one of those) and one of the pink ones from the middle (raspberry/lemon) they were pretty moist and even the cake had flavor ( YAY ) :)


 Stamps from James & Cortnie,

This pincushion Cortnie found while she was away on at a break from a training school. ( the stitched felt is tucked into a vintage jello mold.

So, I caved and bought the foilpress from Crafters Companion because, I already had the Gemini Jr. machine. and a few dies and foils to play with it. More about that will be coming soon, so far so good. the foil does not flake off the projects after like the transfer foils do.

Booth Tags {so far}

 The shape of the base on the left is a Sizzix tag, super crescent and the shape of the one on the right is from memory Box Tag You're it rectangles set. the lump of coal is a foiled print out from this free digital print found on Pinterest years ago. with some deco foil and a laminator. the gingerbread cookie is a Sizzix Die.

 a couple more of the lump of coal tags. the shape of this tag is from Papertrey Ink called tag sale quilted die.

The tag base on the left is from Mama Elephants tags a lot set and the one on the right is from the Spellbinders Love stamp and die set. the stocking on the left is from the Sizzix Big Z stocking that came with a matching embossing folder. the Red cut piece on the tag on the right is from the Sizzix die called frame back ornate #4

 These are all Spellbinders Love stamp and die set tags embellished with scraps. The baa humbug sentiment is from A Muse and the skinny one on its side on the bottom is from and the one on the heart tag is from

 the tag on the left and bottom are from Papertrey Ink the one on the right is from Sizzix shortie tags from the Merry Christmas sentiment is from Impress and the jingle on is from the Penny Black set called Sweetest Moments. The blank tags I am thinking people can write names on and that little tag is a single Hero Arts die.

The tag on the far right is from PTI and the deer on it is from Penny Black called Inspire and the sentiment is from Clearly Besotted message me set. the skinny tag across the bottom is from the Sizzix XL library pocket set and the sentiment is from  The white shaker tag die is from Studio Katia called dotted shaker tag 2. there are sequins & seed beads on the inside with a tulle window. the sentiment is from the mama elephant birthday messages set.

The tree diecut on the far left is from the Taylored Expressions set called trim a tree. the tag on the far right has a Joy die cut from the Penny Black winter cheer set and the tag shape is from w plus 9 called the Anastasia tag set.

the round tag on the far right is from Papertrey ink and is a tag sale #4 die. The winter wishes is a Tim Holtz sentiment and the open me embossed on the bottom tag is from My Favorite Things.
you cannot see it in this angle of the photo but, the tall tree tag on the left has a Memory box glittered gift box diecut tucked under that large tree on the printed paper.

The large round tag on the left is a Cricket cut, the snowflakes on it are Sizzix diecuts, & the sentiment is from Mama Elephant, the oval tag on the bottom is also a cricket cut, the tag on the far right is from Sizzix, the wreath on that one is from the Simon Says Stamp wreath tag set and the sentiment on that is from river city rubber works, the tiny bird is a memory box diecut.

The sleigh on the left tag is from Poppy stamps, the tag in the center is from the Spellbinders charming round set and the Joy diecut is from pretty pink posh and the back tag is a cricket cut.

The tag on the left is the Simon Says Stamp wreath die set, the little tag at the top may have been something that was bought that size and or it may be from one of those sets of tiny tag diecuts. ( I have one from taylored expressions and one from Spellbinders etc etc)

The snowflakes are also from Simon Says Stamp called snowflake tag that came out last year during "die-cember" so, these have not been used for the booth before as they came out after the fact.

The fa la la on the left tag is from the Honey bee set called fa la la honeycuts, the fa la la on the bottom round tag is from mama elephant called scripty fa la la. the tag shapes in the back are from Taylored Expressions.

The Merry Christmas on the square tag is from Simon Says Stamp, the poinsettia on the round tag is from the Sizzix tattered poinsettia Tim Holtz die & embossing folders used. the tag on the right has an assortment of stamps used on it.

The deer on the round tag is from Do Crafts and I added a red pom pom to the nose, the Merry is a Papertrey Ink die and the HoHoHo is a spellbinders die.

WOYWW # 534 {Foiled Christmas cards}

 This is a Wednesday AM shot of the desk, those foiled pieces were done over the last weekend and that is as far as I got with them, the 4th one was turned into a card and its the one in the very bottom of this post. The solid green piece is dyed cork paper, I had thought I was going to use it with the foiled green card because of the texture contrast but, ended up changing my mind. The paint is there from that stenciled debossed tutorial I tried a few weeks back the one that turned out better is under that pile of clear blocks. The random sentiments were stamped on scraps to cut and use later they are "drying" ( well, they are probably done dried by now its been hot here too hot to go up and play after work. there are more of them on the paper cutter to the right that you cannot see in this shot.)

 This is how that first opal foil on the red turned out, I did cut out the center as the foiling showed off how uneven I had gotten the paste.

 Now this one I probably should have just tossed it, but I have a hard time doing that. and for the most part I like rustic and distressed things but, with the stark white background these red poinsettia's I think need to be perfectly foiled and would be more elegant. So, I had the bright idea to cut some off using it to try last week's sketch. but, I really do not like how this finished out and I may just toss it yet.

Now this was one of the pieces that got foiled last weekend. and I was so excited that it looked perfect when it was done. ( I used a shim and only ran it through the laminator once)
and then when I went to make it into a card it kept flaking. so I took a paintbrush and ran that over it trying to knock off what ever was "loose" and now, its not perfect anymore. ( and I have a feeling it will just continue to flake over time) these were all done with the foil transfer paste from deco foil along with their foils.

Part of me is very tempted by a glimmer machine or a what ever the gemini version is called.  ( I did watch some video's of them being used last weekend too) and somehow I did end up with one foiling die from the last time I went into hobby Lobby and that is what I think sparked this whole how do you use this stuff adventure.
the pro's for the gemini version is ( its cheaper and I have a gemini Jr machine already)
the pro's for the spellbinders version is supposedly you can use other brands of regular dies in it. ( of which I have a ton of regular dies) (but, I do not know how this machine will run through a bigshot Pro and I have a feeling it will not fit through the old spellbinders pink shoot what ever it was called that only took slim dies through it machine?

(and I really do not want to have to buy another die cutter.)

So that brings me to the burning question I have. Does anyone actually have either of the foiling machines? do you really get perfect results with it or are you still killing a lot of paper in the learning curve?
