as it turns out a few of my friends have been talking about this technique and making cards like this. The how to video can be seen on you tube here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmculp_tz74
and she makes it look so very easy... and this is the 4th attempt before I got it to work...
this was card number one, and heed the one warning she gives you about not flipping your layers...
this one the smallest top layer has an 1/16 size mat and the other is an 1/8th on this bolder snowflake pattern the wider mat works better to hide the gaps it leave stamping the stacked layers.
this one is A-6 in real life and when I got to the bottom mat it was discovered that none of the cardstock I own in an 12" sq is not quite navy colored... so went with a bazzill that is close to the softsky color but, it looks a little odd with only two dark mats here.

These are awesome, Stacy! I was thinking this technique would be so pretty with snowflakes and, yes indeed, it is!
they look great, even the one that's not lined up correctly. I may have to try this out.
Don't tell anyone that one of your cards is not lined up correctly --- and no one would ever know!
They are gorgeous!!
