not feeling so great

this is the surgery i had last wed. ( an cochlear implant ) the internal parts are all in. http://www.bionicear.com/index.cfm?langid=1 and i felt really good up there, so much so i expected to be able to go to work on friday. ( haha spent friday and most of today asleep or not moving) I also have developed a black eye and the left side of my face seems to have swollen and looks lower then the right side. ( the implants on the left) took the bandages off last night, nope not gonna flash graphic photos here. but, the line of stitches is longer then the surgeon lead me to believe it would be. its tingly and sore. (my ear is) not sure if this is normal or what not.(I have finally taken the plunge and requested an Mentor) so, we'll see what they have to say. I don't go back to the hospital to see the surgeon again until after the holidays in January as he has to see me first before i can get the outside parts hooked up and he only sees people on Tuesday's and Fridays. so. I think part of why i feel so much worse at home is the trip home is if your not familiar with Oregon there are lots of mountains and so the altitude changes is i think what has done it. hopefully this too shall pass. (SOON) :) I had my husband wash my hair today. that is something i hope not to repeat any time soon. our house is not set up for someone who cannot get their ears wet.

Stacy, I hope you feel better soon! If you can, take as much time as you need to heal. Since it sounds like the trips to the hospital are definitely not on your list of fun things to do, I'm glad you don't have to go again! Hope the swelling goes down soon and that that nasty ice pick in the ear thing goes away REALLY soon!!!

You poor thing. I hope you get to feeling better very soon. I can imagine how much pain you are in. I shared with you that my dad had recently had ear surgery also. I know it must be uncomfortable. Listen to doc's orders and take it easy as much as possible. We're all going to be praying for you. Hugs, Ethel

Oh Stacy!!!! My heart goes out to you! What an ordeal! Yes, those Mountains are 'killer' - my ds had an ear infection one time on a trip to CA ... he screamed the entire trip at age 2 (I didn't know about the infection until I took him to a Doc in CA)!
Peace to you and your family... how sweet of your DH to wash your hair (did you ever see Out of Africa - with Robert Redford & Meryl Streep - Oh my!!)..
I'll pray for an angel to come visit you and help this all pass smoothly...lots of rest for you, lots of gentle touches to your wounds... and no more mountain trips!
Hugs...

Stacy, it does get better. I have had 3 ear surgeries and have a BAHA implant at this point, but a cochlear implant may be in my future. My friend has had 2 cochlear implants and says that while it is rough at first, he is so glad he had it done. I could not wash my hair for a couple of weeks and that feels so horrible. I did find those blotting papers for oily skin to help a lot. Just wipe them through strips of hair and it helps.

Hope you're feeling better soon Stacy! I was a bit worried after reading your previous post a few days ago, but didn't want to be too nosey ...
Take care...

Oh Stacy- I sure hope that your recovery speeds up. So I guess that your hair washing scene wasn't like that one between Meryl STreep and Robert Redford in "out of Africa"?!
Big hugs to you ( I bet that you look like Van Gogh with your bandage :P )

Whooo HOOO!!! A fellow Borg! (see Star Trek). My husband has had his implant for about 4 years now and what a difference a day makes! I'll never forget the day he heard the oak tree 'helicopters' landing on the sidewalk and recognized the sound! It's hard at first, but it does get better! I'm a stamper/scrapper and it's great to meet a fellow stamper/scraper with the same challenge my hubby has. I KNOW things will get better!! ~ Pam
