Happy Mail and the Last bunch of Christmas Cards

This first card I've had for some time now and never got around to editing the photo I shot of it, it came to me all the way across the big pond from Penny. The sentiment reads " A friend is someone who makes it easy" the ladies face collage is up on pop dots and stamped on transparency sheet, not sure what to tell you on how it was done, but that link will take you to Penny's blog... this has the most incredible shimmer but, i didn't catch that with the camera.
I did this one yesterday ( with no glasses on ) haha, tried coloring the day before but, ended up tossing everything i tried to color. this one was for DH. the Amore heart print is from Hero Arts and stamped with Memories Chestnut ink on SU River Rock CS. the little hearts in it are colored with an Marker. the darker mat cs is Mellow Moss. the With Love sentiment is stamped with Baroque Burgundy on the Mellow Moss and punched with an Whale of a Punch tag, the fancy Flexible phrase Merry Christmas is stamped on the back side of an piece of bazzill and then punched with an Martha Stewart tag. (there is an pop dot on it too) The Printed Paper is i think a scrap of K&Co ( but could possibly be Anna Griffin?) Ive had this a long time don't really remember anymore. The ribbon is May Arts and the hat pin is something a local lady makes and has an lss here sell for her. This card is 5X7 in real life.
This is another 5 X7 sized card, I had colored all the images here and below some time ago and made this next 4 cards the night before we left for the hospital. ( good way to burn off nervous energy.) I didn't photograph them because all of them have stickles and Ive ruined quite a few cards having them fall over while the glitter glue is still wet. The Peace ( Penny Black) is stamped on Very Vanilla with Olive Archival ink (Ranger) and up on pop-dots. the Basic Grey (holly pp) has red stickles on the berries of the pp. the corners have some hemp cord from walmart on them and the red satin ribbon is unknown. The So Saffron cardstock is matted with a green Basic Grey Scrap. ( same scraps as some of the other Christmas cards i have posted previously)
This one the only things really different about it is it's an 6 inch square (card base is textured Bazzill) the red dot pp is from Daisy D's and the red texture pp is from Provo Craft, the ribbon is offray and i trimmed the penny black image with postage scissors, ( which didn't look good) so then went around the edges of the image with micro tip scissors and matched it up a little better.
This one is a-2 in size, the Lockhart angel is colored with Prisma Pencils, and punched with an Marvy Lever scalloped oval. the Celebrate is from the Su set fancy flexible phrases, there is some chalk inking on the edges of the scallops and glitter glue on her wings, the blue sparkle cardstock is Bazzill, the ribbon i picked up by the yard at wal-mart years ago. ( its reversible and if i had to guess id say Wrights) just because our walmart carries mainly that brand in there fabric dept. I think that pale blue stickles may be one of the newer colors.
Same thing only in a redish rosy color. don't remember who makes that pp. but i did add some red stickles to it. that sheer ribbon is actually a peachy pink color and i bought it by the yard years ago at Joann's Fabrics. that's about it. today's big thing will be a trip to an local (fancy scmancy) home store that usually has really cool ornaments with Alice.
Happy Christmas Eve!

First "florist" Roses

Pretty eh? My grandparents were just here a little bit ago. :)
I have never received a dozen red florist roses before so this really floored me.
I know what your thinking What? how many years you've been married!?!
It's true my husband does buy my roses ( but, they are all in the yard with the roots in the dirt) :)
I have learned another thing, I am not steady enough to hold the camera yet so, the cards i made right before we left for the hospital will still have to wait. (gotta hunt up a tripod) and that seems like too much work for the moment. We have our employee's Christmas Dinner tonight. and Last night DH took me to Fred Meyers. ( don't get too excited its a grocery/ little of everything store on in the Northwest) but, the fun part was the pharmacist was still open so he mentioned that Mayonnaise might get the antibiotic ointment out of my hair without dissolving the stitches. It was nice to get out.
So, I'm gonna try that one in a few so i have time to get it dry and get it together before tonight.

Today is going much better

I feel more like my self, didn't have a the first thought upon waking as holy cow i could really use another pain pill. the feeling of standing on the seashore and feeling the tide washing over you with that whoosh whoosh dizzy overwhelming feeling is gone now too. I could only feel the wires of the implant immediately after waking from the surgery and pretty much that day. the only things i feel now are close to the skin and the skin itself. Its a little itchy and a little tight feeling i guess. I've even been up pretty much all day today, tried laying down but actually didn't fall asleep. So got back up again. the encouraging part is i really want to go stamp. (but so far all the things i have gotten done (washed some dishes last night) put some laundry in today and wrapped a few gifts on my bed i did this leaning on things.) so, not so sure I want to climb the stairs though. So anyways. Thanks again for the support. I did get some happy mail and I just wanted to say thanks! :)

not feeling so great

this is the surgery i had last wed. ( an cochlear implant ) the internal parts are all in. http://www.bionicear.com/index.cfm?langid=1 and i felt really good up there, so much so i expected to be able to go to work on friday. ( haha spent friday and most of today asleep or not moving) I also have developed a black eye and the left side of my face seems to have swollen and looks lower then the right side. ( the implants on the left) took the bandages off last night, nope not gonna flash graphic photos here. but, the line of stitches is longer then the surgeon lead me to believe it would be. its tingly and sore. (my ear is) not sure if this is normal or what not.(I have finally taken the plunge and requested an Mentor) so, we'll see what they have to say. I don't go back to the hospital to see the surgeon again until after the holidays in January as he has to see me first before i can get the outside parts hooked up and he only sees people on Tuesday's and Fridays. so. I think part of why i feel so much worse at home is the trip home is if your not familiar with Oregon there are lots of mountains and so the altitude changes is i think what has done it. hopefully this too shall pass. (SOON) :) I had my husband wash my hair today. that is something i hope not to repeat any time soon. our house is not set up for someone who cannot get their ears wet.

Were Home

just a quick update, we got home last night but i couldn't see out my eyes long enough to type an update. ( I cant put my glasses on till the dressing come off which should be tonight when Tim gets home from work) yippee. I'm starting to feel dirty and yucky. sponge baths don't do much for long hair. haha. I'm doing really well all things considered. if some ever says to you it feels like having an ice pick shoved in your ear. well, that is what it feels like when you wake up. but, by the second does of pain pills that's gone. I pretty much slept all day wed. then yesterday we took our time coming home and did stop and finish some last minute Christmas gift shopping ( which really wore me out) so, since DH has put all these gifts on the kitchen table i guess i have about 5 hours to pull it together and get them either wrapped or hid. ( before the school bus gets here) Im not allowed to bend over ( like with my head below my waist) or sneeze, or blow my nose, or get water in my ears yet. ( but the paper doesnt say for how long) Tim thinks maybe till the bandages come off. so I gotta write at least one more note probably to the hospital to check on that one. then i guess its back to bed with me. Thanks for your prayers and your cards. more later, me.

another Quick Christmas card

the Hero Arts sentiment is stamped on Su very vanilla card stock then trimmed with mini pinking shears, its on a scrap of Provocraft textured paper ( that has a little bit of sparkle to it) and the holly and green pp are both Basic Grey scraps ( still laying on the table) and the Yellow mat is So Saffron, the green textured card stock base is Bazzill. this is 6 inches Square in real life. the mini brads are from Doodle bug, ( ladybug) funny thing, i have three different packs of those brads and each pack is a slightly different color. this particular pack was more on the burgundyish end of the red then the others.

{250 posts}

I kept thinking it would have been more fun to have something totally neat to share, but i broke one of my teeth ( i dont know how) over the weekend. ( noticed it at lunch on sunday) have the filling and part of the tooth left. so, today i am headed to the dentist to get some kind of a temporary thing put in so the filling and the rest of the tooth does not fall out or break off more. and let him figure out how to deal with it maybe at the end of January or something. got to steal time to wrap gifts too. picked up the new pirate movie at the grocery store today and AM looking forward to seeing that. J seen it with Alice when ever it was at the theaters earlier in the year... Hopefully getting the temp. put in will put me back into a i wanna play mood. :) I miss my stamps. m0re later, Me

this weekends Christmas cards

So, this was almost the card that wasn't. :) Yesterday i started this and i got it all done except for the stitching. I changed the thread color in my machine and i keep clear thread on the bobbin as a short cut. so, I kept having the thread snarl and it felt like the gears were grinding when i tried to back it up and lock the stitches. ( warning: do not try to operate your sewing machine at the end of a LONG day when your brain is ready to go to bed) ha i could not get it to sew i was ready to demand a new machine for Christmas i was so frustrated. then as i was going to bed i thought you know whats wrong the stupid tension is off. then i thought some more, did you hit the wheel? had no idea but, i was able to actually fall asleep with the thought it was something I could fix my self. haha. so anyways, after the failed threads yesterday the stripe paper ( my minds eye ) had some thread holes in it, so when i got it all up and running today i tried to do one of those wiggle ly type line sewing instead of something straight. when you sew in a mostly straight line on auto-pilot its Hard to wiggle the stitch line. So anyways this card is going to the lady i have at work who answers the phone for me, the snowmans from Inkadinkado ( and colored with prisma pencils), the Sentiment's from PSX the ribbon is May Arts, the blue textured cardstock is bazzill and this ones 5 x 7 inches in real life.
This is another of those Christmas images i colored recently its from an old su set called seasonal birdhouses, the savvy stamps sentiment is on an SU word window punch on old olive cardstock and the yellow mat is so saffron yellow. the red pp is daisy d's and the holly is Basic grey. the big brads are from Bo Bunny Press & do not go inside the card just the mat. The textured cardstocks are Bazzill. best guess on the stitched ribbon is Offray ( either Joanns or Walmart ) but not real positive on that one. This one is 6 inches square in real life. ( and not intended to send to anyone... yippee i have a head start on next year if i dont get one from someone i didnt send one to already. ) ha after i mail them that is, they are still sitting here addressed with postage on, but i have not cut up J's school mug shots yet for the family members getting photos in their cards...
( maybe tomorrow or tuesday i hope )

Blast from Last Christmas'es Cards

Way back in the use the scanner for everything days... this one i did a few of this design ( don't remember how many) the poinsettia is from Penny black and heat embossed on textured bazzill with distress powder.
this one the hero Arts dahlia is stamped repeatedly with fired brick distress on cream cardstock then the centers are colored with prisma pink pencil then there is some random red stickles glittler glue in some centers, ( this is layered a few times) and was about 5 x7 ish i think?
This was just one of those things, had to have this stamp, couldn't make it look good with markers so i heat embossed it in gold on red, and made the flowers into cards with pp scraps. did two or three similar to this, the gold on the paper edges is all krylon paint pen. ( i was all over that pen last year haha)
oh dug this Noel out and did the same things with it more or less...
this one was slightly more 3-d there is another layer of flowers on it...
Loved the lace and the color combo of this one, stamps are Hero Arts.
now this cracks me up, i have all these dies you see, i have never used them in scrapbook pages, but i told my self i had to get my moneys worth out of them so i must have made 60 of this one... ( i still have 30 of these bases just like this with no stockings on them) the flowers in the stocking are from a QK die ( and part of that was vellum) and such a pain in the rear to get out of the die without ruining the paper... the gold balls are beads and if i remember right they rubbed off in the mail and everyone who got this card got gold ball confetti in the bottoms of the envelope. ( this is what it was supposed to look like)
live and learn eh?
these made me smile to find the photos at least i had them on a disk, our computers hard drive died last Christmas and so, alot of the the old stuff is gone, some that was uploaded to the albums at peas is gone, oh well. anyways i think I'm gonna put up the tree today. :)
