random recent things

So the good news is I'm remembering to shoot things before they go out in the mail or what ever. but, the bad news is I don't really have enough time in the day to make up words to go with the photos to post them all in one at a time blog posts right now. It's officially weed, water, wait and repeat season here for the next few months. and so, I've decided this will just be a eye candy blog for summer. if you really need to know what something is shoot me an email or leave a comment and will look it up and edit.

Matching Socks

So a while back got this set from Unity and it just makes me laugh. I don't actually "fold" socks properly anymore I just lay them together and fold them in half that way.( lose less fingernails that way) Tried some fabric and tape tape washi tape for the borders on this. the long sock is paper pieced with the same pink basic grey pp as the sentiment is stamped on. this ones A-6 in real life.

Green Stain

So this is the shorter ladder with shelves, stained winter moss green with pine shelves in an custom stain that was mixed to match our hardwood floors. ( need more ) have 2 1/2 of the 4 shelves on the taller ladder done, otherwise it would have come out for its chance to show off too.  James and Tim did these shelves for me on Mothers day and then I started staining them that afternoon.

Right now the shelves are just sitting on the steps & rungs but, Hubs is going to put some skinny dowel pins into the bottoms of the boards so they cannot just be "pulled or slid" off the ladder. I'm going to use this for the table display at the craft fair this coming season.

had the stain out so started staining a mess of the vintage clothes pins found at estate sales too. forgot to shoot them once they went upstairs but some are on the metal hanger hook things ( also for the display ) and some are packaged to sell as "hand stained vintage clothes pins" lol

Planter boxes

This is a green bean (pass through) more then a house, but there will be strings run through metal eyes for the beans to climb as they sprout. Idea came from this photo I found on pinterest.

 Caught playing in the dirt

Found this Kalanchoe plant at home depot Saturday, since its an annual
and something different decided to try it in the chair planter.

Not seeing anything from the freesia bulbs in the crock yet either. can't remember when they bloomed last year ( time line )

just some closer views

Sundays Garden Snapshots

This kit came with automatic window openers that open the windows if the temp. gets too hot inside. there are solar things for the lights that are mostly to keep the batteries charged for the lights. they dont actually run on solar power.

we made a run to home depot looking for pavers and only found pebble ones so after lunch we went by Diamonds with the same thought and these grapes followed us home. all these years we've thought oh we have to wait till we have a greenhouse to get grape vines but, the people there were like no, you have to put these outside the greenhouse so the air will circulate.

he's holding one of the light boxes.

 has rain gutters too.

and clips that hold the doors open if you want.

Pear trees are all abloom now too.

 Side view from the house.

Simplicity

So, I've been messing around with some scraps and Christmas cards pretty much when I was not weeding this week and really got tired of looking at that stuff and found this Ippity sketch challenge #29 printed out under the scrap pile when I was cleaning up this afternoon and thought well why not. the Sentiment is from the Ippity set called the simple things. the s letters in it do not stamp completely so this was traced over with a tim holtz marker. the butterfly is die cut on a scrap of unknown gingham. the floral pp is from My Minds Eye. the blue texture is bazzill, and the liner inside is cream neenah with some creamy brown fluid chalk ink along the edges. the buttons just a craft one with some blue American crafts thread ( that looks and feels and color wise is an exact match for some May Arts burlap string I have ) (I'm rolling my eyes)
You can see this sketch Challenge here. Thanks for this challenge Jen!
