Drawing with your Paintbrush

This week Kia is sharing this video at YouTube on drawing with your paint brush to make a loose rose from Karen Rice Art.

So I picked up a piece of Artist loft paper to give it a whirl, this is the first layer of paints using what was left over on that palette from the poppies and what ever came behind that. (forgot)

I did have it pretty watered down color wise and I thought that doesn't look half bad. and I at that point walked away and then on Tuesday when I came home from work I added the second layer.

And I am not so impressed with it anymore, I have some pretty hard lines on those petals and the top left leaf looks wonky to me so. This is where I stopped and I am debating about A watching the whole video again to see what comes next ( because, I have already forgotten) and or B starting over again. That's about it from me, if you'd like to play along with us Kia did get the challenge loaded here at Splitcoasstampers but, I have been unable to post in either the gallery or the forums there after yesterdays big update the site had. Thanks for stopping by.

So, I Did end up adding a third layer of paints to this on Wednesday Afternoon and I can still see the hard lines but, I am guessing this would have worked better on the good paper and I may try it again like that later. but, for now this is a shot of the third layer ( wet)

So I decided to add just a little more paint to the leaves for veins, and deepened some of the rose petals and some tiny splatters. I liked how the bottom two leaves looked so I decided to finish this into a card. The sentiment was stamped a while ago and I had cut it out with scissors so, its out of the little tray on the table. I added some coral paint to the center spots in the framing detail but, it was pretty plain so then I added some stickles glitter glue to over the top of that.

This ribbon is really old I want to say the company that made it started with a C but, I don't remember the rest of that anymore I do know I bought it cut by the yard from a scrapbook store something like 20 some odd years ago. The mini brad your guess is as good as mine. I did use the A set of Matt Basics A2 spellbinders dies to cut out the rose panel and then I am thinking that paper might be Basic Grey and if not its probably My Minds Eye. ( I've had it a long long time also and I don't remember that part either anymore. The base here is some textured coral Bazzill and its 5 1/2" square in real life.
